~
They walked in their own world
Living their own reality
Clasped in the hand of each other
As they journeyed
To and
From
The Sunday markets
~
They travelled light
Both ways
~
The lady seemed to walk
With princess elegance
In spite of an old
Ragged
Royal blue shawl ~
Thinning
Long black dress and
Well worn
Overworn
Boots
~
The man had an unmistakeable wisdom
Locked away beneath
A bushy mop of grey hair and
Wild beard ~
I know ~ for
He spoke a few words
Softly ~
Enough to imply
He was cultured
In ancient ways ~
Very ancient ways ~
And she simply answered
With a dazzling
Understanding
Smile
~
I last saw them
Standing by an old
Battered
Once white
Ute
~
He wrestled to open the stubborn door
For his precious passenger ~
Then graciously
Helped her inside
Like a gentleman

they say there is always someone for everyone,, and it is a gratitude when we see someone that has actually found them
Beautiful shot and poem.
This was so lovely to read Gemma! I hope they have many more market days together.

Gemma,
Scenes like this are inspiring ~ they are couple that is still true to the vow of forever. In this time when everything are becoming disposable, even love, it is inspiring to find people that stick to the old and pure concept of love.
Your keen observation of this happy couple is a reminder that it is possible.
I wish you well.

I love this poem, always told my husband that this is how we should be when we grow older :)
Very dignified, I liked the essence of your lines.
Gemma,
This is a lovely photo; your poem illuminates it beautifully, too.
Sweet! They both are the luckiest couple. Your poem is beautiful. I love poems and I have a few in my Blogs but in my native language. Hopefully i can make more and in english.
