AUSTRALIA ~ The Antipodes

AUSTRALIA ~ The Antipodes
I love a sunburnt country / A land of sweeping plains / Of ragged mountain ranges / Of droughts and flooding rains / I love her far horizons / I love her jewel-sea / Her beauty and her terror / The wide brown land for me / ~ Dorothea Mackellar (1885-1968)

Silvered Winter Waters

Surreal view of Port Phillip Bay from Blairgowrie beach.
We have had days of grey, chilly, rainy winter until this recent day of gentle, almost Spring-like sunshine.

Remembering Last Summer

Pic by Gemma Wiseman ~ Was it only March this year when we saw many days like this!

Recall last summer
Rainless cycles of sunshine
Roll on summer days
~
NOTE: These thoughts were generated by yet another day of winter rain!
And news has just been released that a section of The Esplanade (which circles around Mount Martha by Port Phillip Bay) has just collapsed from all the rain.
It will be closed for a week!

Pale Beauty

Pic by Gemma Wiseman ~ Reflections of winter clouds at Blairgowrie beach, Mornington Peninsula
Not till I looked at the photo did I realise that I mistakenly lined up the sand line and ignored the horizon.
O well, still loved the watery cloudscape!

Ruby Rowing

Pic by Gemma Wiseman ~ Standing up to paddle a boat at Blairgowrie on Port Phillip Bay, Mornington Peninsula.
The water is very shallow in this area, so perhaps it is easier to stand and paddle?
And it's amazing how this sliver of red seems to glow in a world of blue!
