Rhino Tram

A passing tram in Swanston Street, Melbourne.
I loved the signage - unlike the usual advertisements.
Each time I go in to Melbourne, there is always a new collection of colourful trams to photograph!

Tudor Village in Melbourne

A part of the model Tudor village in the Fitzroy Gardens, Melbourne.
The Village which is situated in the centre of the Fitzroy Gardens, was modelled in cement by Mr. Edgar Wilson, a 77 year old pensioner who lived in Hamilton Road, Norwood, London, England, who carried out the task as a hobby. He built three such villages. One of them which he presented to the City of Melbourne through the City of Lambeth, England, in appreciation of Melbourne’s generosity in sending food to Britain, during the Second World War.

British Pub in Melbourne

Last weekend, I took a wander round Melbourne.
This sign for The Elephant and Wheelbarrow pub amused me!
It's a traditional British pub in Bourke Street.

Lighthouse in the Rain

Rainy view of the old McCrae lighthouse on the Mornington Peninsula.
This lighthouse guides sailors through the South Channel on the eastern side of Port Phillip Bay.
The original McCrae Lighthouse was a timber structure built in 1854 and following years of service was dismantled in sections and transported by bullock wagon to the top of nearby Arthurs Seat to be used as a lookout. The present day lighthouse, built in England in 1874 by Chance Brothers & Co of Birmingham, was transported to Australia by sea and erected on this site in 1883.

Matilda Bay

This sign is in the heart of Moorabbin, an inner suburb of Melbourne.
It looks as if it is set on a shipping container which is right near the footpath.
Matilda Bay has a fascinating website. (Entrance requires you to log in your age!)
Their story began in Western Australia.
The feature on the left of the the sign represents a 2 storey high copper kettle from Germany.
The real version is installed in the North Fremantle warehouse in Western Australia.

Mystery Shadows

A home at Safety Beach casts bold diagonal shadows.
It is almost like extra art on the facade.
What I don't quite understand is what creates the shadows.
It's only a narrow space between the wall and this wooden panel.
Why would there be cross panels?

Aldi Lunchbox

This sign is repeated across the windows at the Aldi store, Rosebud on the Mornington Peninsula.
I Googled the website.
Apparently, the symbol is scattered through the Aldi store on selected items to help you make nutritional, balanced choices for school lunches.
But wait! There's more!
There's even a free Aldi Lunchbox app. to help plan a weekly shopping list for lunches!
