AUSTRALIA ~ The Antipodes
I love a sunburnt country / A land of sweeping plains / Of ragged mountain ranges / Of droughts and flooding rains / I love her far horizons / I love her jewel-sea / Her beauty and her terror / The wide brown land for me / ~ Dorothea Mackellar (1885-1968)

Crunchie Point

This sign at Point Leo on Westernport Bay always amuses me.
Why this name, I don't know.
All I know is that it is a reef area protecting an expanse of water.
It's very popular for beginning surfboard riders and SUP's (stand up paddlers).

I think of eating
I think of chocolate bars
I'm not a surfer

Stretched Viewpoint

A piece of playground equipment at Point Leo on Westernport Bay involved this bendy mirror feature.
The reflection represents a stretched view of the landscape.

Winter Surfer

Yes! It is still Winter in my world.
But there are some who still like to be up close and personal with the water.
Last weekend, this guy was paddling round the waters of Westernport Bay just offshore from Point Leo beach.
I remained snug in my warm jacket.

Check Point for Point Leo Beach

Pic by Gemma Wiseman ~ My dear hubby was driving, so I had the opportunity to take some photos through the windscreen.
Here is the entrance booth to Point Leo beach, on Westernport Bay, Mornington Peninsula.
It is manned in the summer months so that you need to purchase a ticket to park at the beach.
But in the winter, parking is free.
Notice the tear drop shaped window in the booth.

Wooden Teepee

Pic by Gemma Wiseman ~ Entrance to Point Leo beach

Odd Shot Monday prompt
~

I am like a wooden teepee
Constantly manned in the summer weather
To ensure you pay for
Parking by the sea
~
But in the winter time
I am left to
My own devices
~
As you can see
I am ready for
All seasons ~
(Good protection
Good airflow
Good window on the world) ~
Including Christmas ~
For my greetings are
Always as close as
The flick of a switch
~
I have a rather jaunty
Feather in my teepee cap
(Translate as a stick)
With lots of loopy
String/rope attached
Why?
Ummm
I can't remember
It'll come to me some day
~
Finally
I am a bit of an unknown soldier ~
I have no name
No sign
After all these years
You would never know
I am part of the
Welcome to Point Leo

Sea and Shadows

Hey Harriet prompt~ Shadow Shot Sunday #6

Shadows of woods
Shadows of laced wire
Defiant bars
Cropping
Sunlight with
Dark textures

But the cross shadow of
A humble wooden seat ~
Offering dreaming space
High above the sea ~
Creates the mathematical possibility that
Shadows are not equal to
Ugliness
