AUSTRALIA ~ The Antipodes

AUSTRALIA ~ The Antipodes
I love a sunburnt country / A land of sweeping plains / Of ragged mountain ranges / Of droughts and flooding rains / I love her far horizons / I love her jewel-sea / Her beauty and her terror / The wide brown land for me / ~ Dorothea Mackellar (1885-1968)

Pantoum for An Anger Persona

Collage by Gemma Wiseman ~ My winter fire + footprints on Dromana beach sands, Mornington Peninsula

Big Tent Poetry prompt ~ An experiment in anger management
~

Wicked, wily, fickle winds
No respect for sensitive cultures
Bruising our precious, natural skins
Devouring our minds like shameless vultures

No respect for sensitive cultures
Sour jets of bitter rain
Devouring our souls like shameless vultures
Mocking our wrenching, wretched inner pain

Sour jets of bitter rain
Vile vortex of shameless indifference
Mocking our hapless, wretched inner pain
Cursing our blot, our insignificance

Vile vortex of shameless indifference
Natural power always wins
Cursing their blot, their insignificance
Their wicked, wily, fickle winds

Interesting poem - it's a villanelle isn't it?

You,ve got it simmering nicely here, don't spoil things by letting it explode.
Great post!

I agree with Stan...brewing and brimming, but not screaming at us. Like your use of the form to speak your mind.

I can feel that anger bubbling. May it always be productive. Nice pantoum.

"Vile vortex of shameless indifference" -- I'd like to use that for a tag line for a product that people could purchase if they want to feel abused. Great line! You've wrapped a great pantoum around that anger, very subtle and elegant (I think anger can be quite elegant, if expressed as in your example). http://lindagoin.com/

Gemma -- that's very beautiful. I feel too untalented to even comment intelligently. But what a beautiful way to find release and thank you for sharing.

wicked, wily, fickle winds - strong and beautiful. Wretched indifference. Provocative read.
