AUSTRALIA ~ The Antipodes

AUSTRALIA ~ The Antipodes
I love a sunburnt country / A land of sweeping plains / Of ragged mountain ranges / Of droughts and flooding rains / I love her far horizons / I love her jewel-sea / Her beauty and her terror / The wide brown land for me / ~ Dorothea Mackellar (1885-1968)

Imagine the Universe

Writer's Island 2010 Prompt #9 ~ Imagine
~

Black holes
No escape for light

Evolutionary endpoints of stars
Imploding to
Zero volume
Infinite density

No escape for light

If the Sun transformed
Metamorphosed into
A black hole
The earth would still
Turn and
Orbit
As before

But

No solar winds or
Magnetic storms

Just

Climate change

Black holes
Chasms of cataclysmic
Darkness beyond darkness

And yet

Black holes light up
When galaxies
Collide

IMAGINE!
~

NOTE: Ideas are based on information gleaned from NASA's website!

Like all the scientific jargon you use and then that soft human twist at the end. Good write and read.

Gemma, I am awed by your scientific knowledge and by your imaginings!

I agree with Mary... you must be a scientist! Either that or you are very effective with your imagination! Brilliant!

Gemma, I love the line, "when galaxies collide."

Very cool to utilize the NASA site. See, you DON'T have to be a rocket scientist to write poetry about the universe! Peace, Amy
