AUSTRALIA ~ The Antipodes
I love a sunburnt country / A land of sweeping plains / Of ragged mountain ranges / Of droughts and flooding rains / I love her far horizons / I love her jewel-sea / Her beauty and her terror / The wide brown land for me / ~ Dorothea Mackellar (1885-1968)

Rattling Red's at Tyabb

Pic by Gemma Wiseman ~ In the beautiful little Art and Craft Village at Tyabb is a railway carriage.
Old steam railway carriages in Australia were known as "Red Rattlers".
Hence the name of this carriage converted into a delightful little light snack kiosk.
You may enjoy a little time outside on the verandah or experience one of the tiny inside rooms, still with the old travelling atmosphere.

That looks like a lively place for a bite to eat. Perfect for Ruby Tuesday. I love the shot of the red door at the end of the hall.

Your red rattler is pure nostalgia,
and exactly brothers of the wagons I used to travel with as a child.
Yes, i will turn 60 this year and have even traveled with a steam locomotive!
I'd love to enter one of those nice compartment and have a tasty meal.
Perhaps listening to "Freight Train".

I see from your weather report that your winter temperatures are similar to to for the time being Norwegian summer.
Maybe I should consider retirement in Australia. Somehow Florida doesn't seem that tempting.

Thanks for the tour! I loved the cozy little nooks in this wagon. And I agree it is a nice way to recycle.
Any spring in sight there?

The train car evokes a slower era, where the views outside the car was the treat. Unlike today where you travel fast in the air with video and speed. Not as romantic at all today. efficient, yes, but not a relaxing style like yesteryear...
