AUSTRALIA ~ The Antipodes

AUSTRALIA ~ The Antipodes
I love a sunburnt country / A land of sweeping plains / Of ragged mountain ranges / Of droughts and flooding rains / I love her far horizons / I love her jewel-sea / Her beauty and her terror / The wide brown land for me / ~ Dorothea Mackellar (1885-1968)

Winged Wink of Energy

Pic by Gemma Wiseman ~ The butcher bird is a regular visitor to my garden in the Dromana Hills, Mornington Peninsula.
This tiny bird loves to quickly dive and dart.
If we throw tiny pieces of mince into the air, he swoops on them usually before the food has time to begin to fall.
He seems to have wonderful eyesight.

How wonderful! The birds in our garden are always so shy, and fly away at the slightest sound or movement :(

It's so hard to sneak up on the birds, isn't it? Especially if they dart and dive.

I've always been amazed at the agility of birds. Your story here heightens that perspective even more.
