AUSTRALIA ~ The Antipodes

AUSTRALIA ~ The Antipodes
I love a sunburnt country / A land of sweeping plains / Of ragged mountain ranges / Of droughts and flooding rains / I love her far horizons / I love her jewel-sea / Her beauty and her terror / The wide brown land for me / ~ Dorothea Mackellar (1885-1968)

Past Lives

Pic by Gemma Wiseman ~ Behind the wall

3WW prompt #CI ~ desperate + lapse + travelled
~

There is something
Desperate about
The reject nook ~
That corner almost hidden
Behind
The facade of
Glorious shopping worlds ~
Where well-travelled trolleys and
Forgotten wrappers
Lapse into
Semi-conscious limbo ~
Waiting for
The great yawn of
The dumpster
Hangman

maybe that is why we as humans are so intrigued by "junk" it speaks to us of what we were,, and very well could be at any time... discarded.....

What intrigues me is the amount of trash hauled away to the dump, but it is against the law to take stuff out of the dump...if they would allow me to sit at the pearly gates and recycle half the stuff they haul in, I wouldn't be so sad about the discarded treasures. I can't believe such disreguard, in some cities they will fine you for taking trash (furniture) off the streets...only in America...one man's trash, one man's treasure.

Once a year they have what they call 'big garbage pick-up', that's when the fun begins, EVERYONE is out driving around in there trucks trying to score the treasures people are allowed to put on the street after cleaning house...PARTY...

we humans are so intrigued by other people's junk, which can easily become some other person's treasure

This is beautiful with great word choices. Though personally I'd have left off "hangman" at the end. It thought it complete at "dumpster."

"Louis," who has spend most of his life working in retail knows all too well these bone yards behind the malls....
