AUSTRALIA ~ The Antipodes

AUSTRALIA ~ The Antipodes
I love a sunburnt country / A land of sweeping plains / Of ragged mountain ranges / Of droughts and flooding rains / I love her far horizons / I love her jewel-sea / Her beauty and her terror / The wide brown land for me / ~ Dorothea Mackellar (1885-1968)

Shadowy Light

Pic by Gemma Wiseman ~ Mystic mask and light
~
Writer's Island prompt ~ Overshadowed
~

Is it possible
To be overshadowed
By light
~
Can the glare
Of a glow
Shadow
The outlines
Of reality
With blurred light
~
Is it possible
That an extreme pool of light
Creates
A shadowy
Mystical blindness
~
Strange
How just a small candle
Selects its own
Light and
Overshadow
~

Another version of this pic appears on my AuraGem Songlines. And a poem responds to it. The posting is called Grey Filters.

there's something mystical about the poem. great play of the words 'shadow' and 'light'. really liked stanza 2, so true.

I agree with the above. There always seems to be that touch of mysticism in your work.
Excellent.

I guess it depends on whether you 'see the light', or are blinded by it.

this made me wonder if the light in which we choose to live,, is a relection of the light that burns inside of us... in the instance that it does.... i am a 7 watt bulb....

This is a wonderful piece. Following along on Paisley's idea - I am a flickering bulb, sometimes dim, sometimes bright. You have given me a lot to think about.
