3WW Prompt #LXXXIX ~ deny + smile + uncomfortable
~
Beneath those furrowed brows
There seems to be
A deep
Piercing
Distant
Stare
~
Waves of busy hair
Wing their song
On winds
Bound for
Elsewheres
~
But the mouthline
Draws the attention ~
Somehow
It seems set
In what could be a smile ~
And yet
The smile seems meant
For some inner
Personal thought
~
Like an uncomfortable intruder
The watcher cannot deny
Being left with lingering
Questions ~
While that smile
Seems
Cast in
Eternal
Distant

I love art inspired poetry because no one sees it in the exact same way. Nice job Gemma!
totally amazing photo.. i don't see him as smiling tho,, he looks pensive to me...
Gemma, lovely poem and photo combination. You have a gift! You brought the carving to life with your words. I love how you imagine the why of his smile and the lines of his face. I really liked the stanza about the winging song on the wind going elsewhere.
You did a fabulous job describing that.
set in stone and yet so many emotions... love how you brought him alive thru the ages... dang, even his hair is blowing in the breeze...
I love this ecphraris work!
