AUSTRALIA ~ The Antipodes

AUSTRALIA ~ The Antipodes
I love a sunburnt country / A land of sweeping plains / Of ragged mountain ranges / Of droughts and flooding rains / I love her far horizons / I love her jewel-sea / Her beauty and her terror / The wide brown land for me / ~ Dorothea Mackellar (1885-1968)

Doorway Profiles

Collage of Gemma Wiseman's pics ~ Doorways
~
One Single Impression prompt ~ Doorway
~

Some doorways are sealed tight
With wired grills and locks ~
Manufactured security
~
Some old doorways yield
A useful opening for mail ~
Filtered communication
~
Some doorways are partly
Glass eyes
~
And some only awaken
The colours
Of secrets
With a little
Night light
~

Gemma,
I like this collage very much. I also like this poem as a reflection on the types of protection doors provide. That last stanza is especially evocative!

These are all wonderful but I love the last stanza - it makes me want to be let in on color the of secrets!

I love the way you convey the the seemingly-simple door itself into a multifaceted diamond. Thank you for sharing your words with us!!!

I see collages both visual and written; the written calling upon me to create my own visuals. Your lines provoke memories of the many habitats of my youth.

I really like the line about filtered communication. I could see the little slot and how it restricts what comes through. Interesting twist on the prompt.

This is a wonderful poem, and the images go with it beautifully.
So much symbolism to doors in all kinds of ways.
I love your blog.
all best wishes

Gemma,

The last stanza is a conspicuous gem to this precious poem giving it profound meaning like a pendant to a necklace, like a rhinestone to a ring that sparkle.

I wish you well.

The photo collage is great! Doors can certainly mean a lot of things. I Liked you stanzas about "manufactured security" and "filtered communication"-both
are very true!

This is excellent Gemma your evocative words and the photo collage.

Speaking of photo collages, I've been trying to figure out how to make on of these. Do tell!
