AUSTRALIA ~ The Antipodes
I love a sunburnt country / A land of sweeping plains / Of ragged mountain ranges / Of droughts and flooding rains / I love her far horizons / I love her jewel-sea / Her beauty and her terror / The wide brown land for me / ~ Dorothea Mackellar (1885-1968)

Welcome horizons
Wide blue waters and soft skies
From a mountain height

Just pale flecks of dust
Streets, cars, shops, banks look so small
From my mountain height

Wow, I so want to be there! And I love the poem you wrote about being high up above everything. That certainly is empowering. I grew up next to a mountain and spent most of my childhood cimbing it. Your words put me right back up on it. Thanks!

Also, thanks for letting me know you are a high school English teacher. It's always nice to "talk" with other like-minded people!

Your haikus are just lovely and so natural. Mountains are endlessly inspirational. I have written a poem about a trek I made up (or rather around) Mont Blanc. When you are up high in the midsts of nature it does indeed put everything in perspective.

Thanks for the tip about getting music for my blog - very easy. I have managed it now!
