Stick Insect

It's a long time since I have seen a stick insect.
This one was on the glass opening to the verandah.
Hubby managed to move it carefully to a bush.

My First Photo Editing

Back in May 2008, when first I began uploading my photos, I had never edited my photos before.
This is one of my first attempts at using a frame to complement the image.

This is one of my first attempts in 2008 to solarise an image.

dull landscapes glow
in the chillled seasons
like snowy lace

Another solarised image looking down Arthurs Seat to Port Phillip Bay.
Rarely do I edit my photos - except maybe for cropping.
I prefer the "as is" photography.
But if I edit my photos, I like to keep a sense of reality, a sense of the original photo.

Understated Fence?

Lovely old house - Californian bungalow - at Moorabbin, an inner suburb of Melbourne.
Somehow I feel that the fence line style doesn't really complement the house.
Maybe they wanted an understated fence line so that attention is drawn to the house and garden?

NOTE
Re: the curled feature on the roofline.
Many early 20th century homes have this.
Some say it's called a pinnancle and is a stylised version of a gargoyle to ward off evil.
More responses suggest that it is a feature of Japanese architecture advertised in the World Trade Fairs and "borrowed" for other architecture.
For more details of the discussion about "what it is" see HERE!

Yellow Trim

This photo was taken at Martha Cove in April (Autumn) 2 years ago.
The boat seemed to be a most unusual water craft.
The guy standing was anxious to take many photos of the seated couple.
I'm presuming that it must have been a new boat.

New Season?

This scene in my backyard represents the many strange elements of my current Australian Winter.
The gold Autumn leaves in the background are nearly fallen.
The Autumn leaves on the left are still turning.
And in the midst is a prolific flowering of daisies.
All are blessed with light morning mist.
