AUSTRALIA ~ The Antipodes
I love a sunburnt country / A land of sweeping plains / Of ragged mountain ranges / Of droughts and flooding rains / I love her far horizons / I love her jewel-sea / Her beauty and her terror / The wide brown land for me / ~ Dorothea Mackellar (1885-1968)

close couple...

couple looking over Port Phillip Bay from Queenscliff Lighthouse Reserve...
I think the man is wearing the woman's hat,
because he gave it to her when they stood and walked away...

rain, cold wind and a beach...

It's rainy, it's cold and it's windy...
Yet still people walk Dromana beach...
One carries a beach umbrella - to contend with the rain...
But in this scene, the umbrella seems to be useful for prodding some sea grass...
(there's a sliver of red in the folded umbrella)

time for a bite...

table feature at the Heritage Farm cafe on Churchill Island...
The island is just offshore from the Mornington Peninsula...
We enjoyed lunch there yesterday...
(The day was mostly sunny and warm - Yahooooo...)
I had the best fettucini and sun-dried tomatoes that I ever tasted...
My hubby said he had the best hamburger and chips he had ever tasted...
And, of course, we both had a great mug of cappuccino...

A light flashes on the appropriate colour segment
and any extra messages are lit up in the lower rectangle...
This sign is at Sorrento...

just a small train...

two carriage train pulling in to the small Tyabb station...
Generally, we tend to say that there is no rail service on the peninsula...
What little rail track there is requires changing
from the main line at Frankston to the small Stony Point line....
It is just a single track serving a handful of stations on the eastern side of the peninsula...

perhaps small
but a vital connection
to city worlds
