AUSTRALIA ~ The Antipodes

AUSTRALIA ~ The Antipodes
I love a sunburnt country / A land of sweeping plains / Of ragged mountain ranges / Of droughts and flooding rains / I love her far horizons / I love her jewel-sea / Her beauty and her terror / The wide brown land for me / ~ Dorothea Mackellar (1885-1968)

Soul Shadow

Pic by Gemma Wiseman ~ A rest area along the walkway at Martha Cove marina, Mornington Peninsula
~
Sensational Haiku Wednesday prompt ~ Shadow
~

I thought I knew you
The answer to my darkness
My eternal sunlight

I loved my new dawn
But somehow ignored sunset
Natural passing

That new darkness
Yesterday's reality
Shadow of my soul
~

NOTE:
My beautiful grey cat is named Shadow!
But I chose not to make a connection with her because she gets a regular
feature spot here every Sunday!

You dream in your world
And I am grazing in mine
Wonder who's fenced in

You graze in your world
While I am wand'ring in mine
And who's a puppet

Tea Party

Picture Prompt ~ Tea Party Illustration by: Fernando Falcone~
Monday's Child #38~

Tea party for three
White Rabbit, are there no more
It seems so bizarre

Tea cups and saucers
I count four empty waiting
Do you expect friends

And another thing
Should there be some party food
That would be more fun

Mad Hatter scares me
He seems to be a bully
Why does he do this

Please help me Rabbit
I don't understand this world
Guide me to answers
~

One Shoot Sunday picture prompt
~

I eke out my days
Fashioned in yesterday's styles
Expression on ice

Curiosity
Weathering in weathered worlds
Like a lone watcher

Birds seem to need me
Passing perch for passing dreams
It's good to feel life

Sometimes I'm lucky
Wings cast a halo of light
I so want to smile

Passing Thoughts #13 ~ For Christchurch ~ Again!

Pic by Gemma Wiseman taken from TV Channel 9 coverage

Passing Thoughts #13 ~ For Christchurch ~ Again!
~

Only September
We reached out to our Christchurch
We stood by her side

The earth moved that day
Just over four months ago
Eerie trembling worlds

Today the earth moved
Fragmenting lives and lifestyles
And the church spire fell

Caring trembling hands
Reaching out to our Christchurch
We are here always
~

One Shoot Sunday Picture Prompt
~

Eroded living
Rocky
memories cluster
Birth of new beauty

Open boundary
Landscapes in focal fragment
New unchartered frame

I was there awhile
A small stone like a small cairn
Perhaps you'll find me
~

NOTE: If you would like to experience a wilder rollercoaster ride, read
Dustus' Entering Threshold.
My comment on his post: Dynamic! Like a torrent of literary minds and raw adventurers and those who need acting in their lives! All falling in some mesmerising heap leaving a mass grave at some threshold! This rattled me in an exhilerating way!

In the beginning...

Pic by Gemma Wiseman
~
Carry on Tuesday #81 ~ This week we have the first line of Elton John and Tim Rice’s song from The Lion King, The Circle of Life:
From the day we arrive on the planet...
~

In the beginning
When first we knew planet earth
We longed to explore

Some soared to great heights
Some dived to darkest of depths
Some just walked the walk

In the beginning
When first we breathed on the earth
Life became a wheel

A wheel of fortune
A wheel of raw heat and ice
A wheel of reason
~

Friday Revival

Writer's Island 2010 ~ Prompt #24 ~ Envision
+
Carry on Tuesday #74 ~ John Lennon would have been 70 years old this October 9th.
It is therefore fitting that our prompt this week is the opening line of one of his songs, Beautiful Boy:
Close your eyes, have no fear....
~

Holocaust burnings
Scorched blemish from yesterdays
A furnace of tears

Lonely dark heartaches
Cursed tensions from tragedies
Contaminate peace

Move on with hope
And close your eyes, have no fear
Mend a broken mind

Let memories rest
Envision fire as a phoenix
Cleanse a broken soul
~
