Poetics ~ Say It Again, Sam
He walks so low in naked woes
The moonlight films his desperate way
The trees are armed with thorny bows
The wind of fears so softly blows
The sounds of midnight crimp his day
He walks so low in naked woes
His yesterdays were jewelled glows
The sounds of dreams seemed here to stay
The trees are armed with thorny bows.
The creeping hush of winter snows
Blue summer now will turn to grey
He walks so low in naked woes.
The creeping hush of gutted rose
Our summer boat becomes my sleigh
The trees are armed with thorny bows.
No more the joy of market shows
His little matchgirl whisked away
He walks so low in naked woes
The trees are armed with thorny bows.
I measure out my life with haiku. My camera films my soul. ~ Gemma Wiseman

Polished Gem

Picture pile collage by Gemma Wiseman ~ Here are views of the new look Dromana pier on the Mornington Peninsula.
To celebrate being gazetted as a town on the peninsula 150 years ago, a garden recreation area (more seats for viewing the bay) with a focal yacht "mast style" flag pole have been created near the entrance to the popular Dromana pier.

This Stub of Fate

Collage by Gemma Wiseman
~
One Single Impression #164 ~ Shackles
~
Slender moonlight
Mocks
This darkened prison
I kneel
Low
Always a gypsy,
Always destitute,
Frozen
Waiting...
Tortured forms
Wrought in stained glass
Loom
Like fiery dust
...Ancient dust
Dancing
Casting
Shackles on my face
And a lilac mystery in my mind
I moan
Pained by
This stub of fate

Monday Poetry Potluck ~ Evolution, Environment, Survival
~
My memory is sadly low
There is no sparkling template glow
My inner screen feels blanket grey
I need to boot my mind today
Upload some pictures and some news
Avoid You Tube with buffer queues
Try Googling blogs with power play
I need to boot my mind today
My bookmarks are a last resort
To poetry I must report
A kyrielle holds tempting sway
I need to boot my mind today

Self - Portrait

Pic by Gemma Wiseman ~ The best way to create a self-portrait of me is to gather together those things I love in the world around me:
sea, sand and sky
the moon
wild life
Nature's lights and moods
trees
plants
our cat Shadow
my beautiful soul mate

Journey and The Road Ahead

Collage by Gemma Wiseman ~ One of the roads in my Mornington Peninsula world that I often travel and a wine bottle from a Christmas party.
~
Monday Poetry Potluck #17 ~ Journey and The Road Ahead
~
I know You are there...
Reaching into unfiltered sands
Like a shipping channel
Chartered
But with seasonal warnings attached...
Offering me an umbrella
Sometimes...
Convertible for
The chance of rain
Or sun...
But not so good on those
Blustery
Windy days...
Yet always
I know You are there...
I feel like a pioneer...
Some days
Bumping along in a home-made wagon...
Other days
Cast adrift
Alone
In a dinghy...
Glare
Grit
Frost
Scorching sun
The hollow pain of aching for
Holistic food...
And all the while I know
I am committed
To walk
Ride or sail or drive
Maybe run
Maybe fly
Onwards...
I know You are there
Going somewhere...
For I taste the scents of questions
Sweet eagerness
Spicey concern
And ultimately know...
Nothing...
I dream of Your precious chalice
Always waiting for my celebratory wine to pour
And fill...
(Sometimes
You tease me with
A brief whiff...)
Exclusive vintage from
My watery, limpid tomorrows
Magically turned into the wine of memories...
But I do understand just one thing...
I need to tread the grapes
In naked feet
Before
My yellow brick road
Rises
To meet me

Night Into Day...

Collage by Gemma Wiseman
~
Carry on Tuesday #87
Our prompt this week is a quote from Tupac Shakur:
For every dark night, there's a brighter day...
~
For every downfall of an Empire
For every Dark Age
For every Holocaust
For every curse of poverty
Flood
Drought
Starvation
For every onslaught of
Greed
Lust
Manic madness
For every loss of a child
For every dark night
There's a brighter day
Somewhere
For some one

Poinsettias at Christmas

Collage by Gemma Wiseman ~ These Christmas table mats I first used when my children were young.
That is about 30 years ago.
The poinsettia featured in the bottom mat is a common Christmas symbol in Australia.
Many shops sell living poinsettias as a Christmas gift!

Halloween Dream

Collage by Gemma Wiseman ~ Lately, we have had endless days of rain - a few days of Spring sun and then rain and rain.
I found these rose petals strewn on my verandah steps.
The colour seemed to have saturated into a ghostly shell.
And so began a dream...
~
Carry on Tuesday #77 ~ Rebecca by Daphne du Maurier starts with the words:
Last night I dreamt I...
+
One Single Impression #140 ~ Fancy
~
Rain is a blessing
(Or should be)
But what if there is endless rain...
Last night I dreamt a Halloween dream
A Halloween fancy
A fearful prophecy
Tomorrow showers a new cycle of
Nature's Mysteries
Last night I dreamt
Rain became the new world power
Driving humanity indoors to enjoy
Virtual bushwalks
Virtual picnics
Virtual walking on golden sands by a blue sea
For outside
Light was grey
Sapping surface hues to skeletal pigments
Ghosts breathe here but cannot live
Last night I dreamt I was rain
Devouring colour
