~
Your long haired mane of fluffy lavendar
Reminds me of a pampered poodle
Defiantly refusing
Curling tongs
~
And that red drop on the ear
Could be blood
Congealed
Around
A humble pearl
~
But that silver fringe
Really is a statement
Beyond statements ~
Could it be some
Curtain accessory
Or perhaps
Some colonel's tassel
Unravelled?
(I won't ask how!)
~
Then those
Ribboned prints
Pointed
So pointedly
On deepest
Black
Velvet ~
I am sure
Allusions
Need no
Explanation ~
It is all quite blatant
~
But then
You know
My lemon comments
Are only a sign
Of pure
Jealousy
Iced in triumph
~
For I know
Your outrageous beauty
Masks
The outrage
Burning
Feverishly
Behind
Those eyes
~
You see
The beauty of
An aura
Never
Lies
~

Great picture. A self-portrait? The poem is great and is filled with loud emotions.
Striking and well done!

"the beauty of an aura never lies" well said. i liked the way the poem matured....
Outrageously wonderful post.
A vivid portrait. Outrageous indeed. But well done.
A really powerful and gutsey piece. Loved it
Captivating and I loved "Of pure
Jealousy Iced in triumph."
i would have loved to have looked like that back in my 80's clubbing days!!!! hell yeah....
all the paint and the glimmer and the "glamor" did mask the pain a lot of us were feeling... but we filled the remaining holes with drugs,, and it didn't hurt anymore.....
Neither does the aura of a beauty lie !
And this beauty ( the poem) has a aura about it !
Very nicely done Gemma :)
A very original and intriguing work. Great use of this prompt.

I love the 'drop of blood around a pearl' - neat imagery!
My lemon comments ... I really love this line
Very strong piece and original use of the prompt!
I remember the days when I used to dress like that. What was I thinking? Very clever use of the prompt.
Captivating -- the poem and the photo... well written. A fascinating take on the prompt... ;)
Gemma, it was your offering this week that inspired me to pull out a photo I took several weeks ago. I was determined to captured a memory of the outrageous young woman I saw on I-40 on my way to somewhere.
I like this very much. Your comment on the aura - It's so nice to hear someone else mention it! No, it never lies!
I love the way it turns round at the end.
Wow! Great job! Love the aura reference as well as the detail of her attire!
