The contrast of man against colorful mural captivates.

Beautiful work.

A sad photo that is all too common in our world today. The contrast between the man and the colorful wall says a great deal in your photo and your words are perfect and beautiful as always!

The artistic beauty and brilliance seems to cover the walls is a display of lively color. The shame, of course, is that real life intrudes on the artistic beauty. The rough time of it that many people endure is a sorry sight, a sad life many have to live. I must count my blessings, a roof over my head is a real blessing...

In just a few words, the poem says much about this sad photo.

you wake up on the pavement,

You don't have to stay hidden to be a stowaway.

fantastic photo and great but sad haiku

That is sad. And unfortunately it's an all too familiar sight in the cities. I just can't understand why adequate shelter can't be provided for those in need when we have so many empty buildings throughout our cities...

Yes that is sad. Your photo is great however .

Very expressive shot. Beautiful paintings on the wall.

Still, though: We manage to find a spot in the sunshine. A blessing.

A beautiful sadness is cast under this shadow, what a wonderful capture Gemma. This is the reality of life, it's not all a pretty painted picture, there is sadness all around us.

And you're right...I am so scattered, I even forgot to post Tracies' meme...duh...I don't have a moments' rest, we have to get the shop up and running soon, Piper has no income while it sits unopened...so on we trudge. Fortunately the mall has given us two months free rent, so that will really help us get on our feet.
And I have several soap orders to fill too, so I must allot time for that, plus 'me-time' in the gardens...I sneaked away yesterday long enough to mow the grass...ahhhh...the sweet smell of fresh mowed grass!

We had frost last night, so my garden looked like laundry day, as sheets and quilts covered all my plants, I hope they make it. This is unusual for us to have these late frosts, but they do happen, so must be prepared.

I'll be back to the shop soon today, loading and unloading...AFTER I deliver soap to another shop 30 minutes away...and yes, it never ends, but I love it and plod along, but I miss my swing and long to sit and listen to the birds...it's just to derned cold and windy! But like you, the outings are a pleasant break in a stressful environment...so enjoy dear friend!

I'm off and running...again!!

Big quick hugs from afar!

This simple photograph and haiku are more effective than all the newspaper and magazine articles about homelessness combined!

Ditto what Linda said. I love your haikus and I was struck by this photo - how much care went into making that wall beautiful and how little care given to the man laying in front of it. So sad.

Wow. That is a fantastic photo, Gemma. I don't know the circumstances of ther man sleeping, of course, but he is universally at peace in this capture, as we all are in sleep.

So sad.

Every morning I see from our hotel window a man sleeping outside in a parking lot. In Casa there are many homeless people...

Your picture is half sad and the other half hope.
We should always have hope...

Have a good week!

I almost missed the poem, and that would have been a pity, though the picture is superb.
