I love a sunburnt country / A land of sweeping plains / Of ragged mountain ranges / Of droughts and flooding rains / I love her far horizons / I love her jewel-sea / Her beauty and her terror / The wide brown land for me / ~ Dorothea Mackellar (1885-1968)

Metallic Intruders

Pic by Gemma Wiseman ~ I loved the blue of this Autumn sky in Dromana Hills, Mornington Peninsula so much, that even though it may seem plain, I wanted to record it.
By chance, a helicopter wandered by to give the sky an interest focus.
Add a little bit of foliage plus the compulsory wires and the scene is complete.

both spring & autumn are such times of transition and change, where summer and winter seem so stationary and whole.

I like the second pic best. It is a study of man intruding on Nature. In the second pic it is almost as if the tree is trying to claw the helicopter out of the sky - or is that my imagination running away with me again?!

I have to say, also, that as I type a lovely piece of music is playing and I don't want to leave! (In the Cathedral - Gary Lamb)

Hi Gemma - Lovely to meet you! I found you through Skywatch Friday and am so pleased I did. Although South Australian born and bred,I lived on the Mornington Peninsula for a while - the soft grey light is beautiful. I enjoyed going back through your thoughtful poetry with pics, and recognize many of the places and sentiments.
