Blue But Not Heaven

Pic by Gemma Wiseman ~ A sign offering the glamour of progress on the beachfront. But a development site requiring the demolishing of a historic Dromana cottage is not so glamorous!
A new place called Pearl Beach may just miss out on the real pearl!
It's a time to sing the blues!

I agree, Gemma. Not all progress is progress! Around the corner from where I live is a large house that was built for Gordon of Khartoum. He died before it was completed. It has the most amazing middle-eastern features. Sadly, several years ago, a hideous mall-like extension was built on one side. Awful.

Tearing down is not always making it better.

oh no -- this post makes me blue. Are there beach laws in your country? (re public access?) They vary from state to state here -- in Oregon (our original state) all beaches are public. We were shocked when we first got to the Gulf Coast to see all the developments and closed to the public beaches. (You don't know what you have until you travel.)

That is sad and makes me blue too. What a beautiful area.

It's happening all over the place. It seems town and country planners will not be satisfied until the original character of a place has been erased and every place looks pretty much like every other.
(word verification is rantl !)

Oh I will sing the blues with you. I despise new characterless places that cause the removal of the old historic places.

Progress? More concrete? Nah, not for me!

Definitely not progress. I'm so disappointed to see that it's happening in Australia too. What is this planet coming to?

What a shame! Ellie's first line says it best.
