Passing Thoughts #2 ~ Election Day Begins
~
Strange, moody skies opened
The Australian day of campaign reckoning
The interim Labour lady
The smiling assassin
Would she be the ongoing Pied Piper
Or would the Liberal man of many "um's"
Work straight for some new choices
Some feel Australia should move forward
The Green way
Meanwhile
My morning kookaburra guests
Just felt
A good breakfast
To begin a new day was
Long overdue
~
NOTES: Labour lady = Julia Gillard (first female PM) who ousted Prime Minister Kevin Rudd
Liberal man = Tony Abbott
The Greens headed by Bob Brown

AUSTRALIA ~ The Antipodes
I love a sunburnt country / A land of sweeping plains / Of ragged mountain ranges / Of droughts and flooding rains / I love her far horizons / I love her jewel-sea / Her beauty and her terror / The wide brown land for me / ~ Dorothea Mackellar (1885-1968)

how i love seeing photos of your kookaburras. they're so sweet. and that flower below is beautiful. hope the election goes well. have a great weekend.
Thanks for the election day photos and poems. It is still a cliffhanger and not matter which way crazy (like a fox) Catter goes, it will be interesting.
Some odd sidelights are Andrew Wilkie bagging all Australian involvement in Iraq and Afghanistan, sent Howard to preferences in the election before last, then joined the Greens in Dennison, where he found them 'not professional enough' and I understand why, but that is the nature of new movements. Perhaps he could have helped there, but chose to split.
Then we have 'the universe is only four and a half thousand years old' Fielding who insists God had it all under control who now vows to block as much legislation as he can until he vacates his lost seat in July.
Then we have the Greens taking the balance of power, even more intersting if the Libs get the nod from the independants! Wow! Fascinating stuff!
However, as much as the independents are enjopying the limelight and would like to prolong it, I tip a new election for the Reps before July, which Abbott will win then a shit fight after July until we go back to the polls again
Russ should have brought on the souble dissilution over climate change and didn't but Abbott will not hesitate if he is frustrated by a hostile Senate! Whoo Hooo!
