Red is an energizing colour so it s hould be perfect for a science room. Hopefully it won;t make them too hyper :)
I remember saying to an architect many years ago that he needed to give us "user friendly wall". That school had walls in the hallways that were like fabric covered bulletin boards. The teachers love them!

Red is a powerful colour and it portrays elegance and great style.
The bold red is a wonderful color, very attention getting. The electronic and regular whiteboards show up so much more clear with ruby wall behind. The students thus pay more attention (or at least I hope so!)
