AUSTRALIA ~ The Antipodes

AUSTRALIA ~ The Antipodes
I love a sunburnt country / A land of sweeping plains / Of ragged mountain ranges / Of droughts and flooding rains / I love her far horizons / I love her jewel-sea / Her beauty and her terror / The wide brown land for me / ~ Dorothea Mackellar (1885-1968)

Two Faces of Summer

This week features the first line of a poem by John Clare written in 1821. It's called Autumn...
The summer flower has run to seed

In some worlds
The summer flower has run to seed
Wild colours party in yesterdays
Only footprints on the sands

But in my world
The summer flower awakens
Dancing colours spill on the sands
And footprints gather

In my world
Your old summer love is just a vague shape
Your tainted colours have no lasting substance
And my lone footprints
Head for
A new summer season of
Kindred spirits

it's good you can head for that new season and get out of a dysfunctional situation.
