Some of the petals look as if they are standing close to protect the center and others as if they are spreading their arms to expose the beauty inside. You caught this beautifully!

You have had a short winter! It looks to me as though the petals of the flower unfold in a sort of a spiral action. It might be nice to see a series of how the petals actually unfold. Although that may not be possible...
