Lilac and White Swirls on the Vine

Pic by Gemma Wiseman ~ These tiny flowers are just beginning to open at the beginnning of Autumn on the Mornington Peninsula.
They open in swirls and seem to grow in tiered clusters on my archway vine.
I have no idea what they are.

The very delicate looking and beautiful flowers on this creeper are called Phaseoulus caracalla, or simply called Snail flower. They are from tropical America. The plant is related to the scarlet runner bean!

Snail flower. A fitting name in some sense. Really exquisite flowers. How beautifully the lilac colour changes into pure white.

Lovely flowers! Snail flower, eh? Makes snese they are relatives of scarlet runners - the leaf and flower shapes are similar.

Love your picture..grows wild along the shoreline of Lake Ontario, Canada!

It is a wild sweet pea flower from the family a flowering plant in the genus Lathyrus in the family Fabaceae (legumes), native to the eastern Mediterranean region from Sicily east to Crete.
