Rainbow Lorikeets

Pic by Gemma Wiseman ~ Summer means time for rainbow lorikeets to invade my fruit trees in the Dromana Hills, Mornington Peninsula.
These birds are very colourful, so you would think that they are easy to photograph!
In fact, they like the shady parts of the tree and just peek out occasionally when they feed.

Oh Gemma! Wow~~~ so we have summer-like weather here in Florida (even though it's winter) but winter, spring, summer, or fall I have NEVER seen such gorgeous birds just flying around out in the wild....what a treat that must be. Great picture.

Well captured Gemma. They seem to sense when I've got my camera and scatter, shrieking to the whole neighbourhood. I hope they leave an apple for you.

What an incredible sight. You're lucky to have them. Boom & Gary of the Vermilon River, Canada.

I have Rainbow Lorikeets in my yard too and I love them! They are noisy and and bossy and messy - and totally fascinating!

Gorgeous colors! I wonder why tropical birds are usually more colorful than those in temperate regions.

What a gorgeous bird Gemma. How nice to see all that color while we're buried knee deep in snow.
Have a great rest of the week.
