Pic by Gemma Wiseman ~ A child enjoying Australia Day 2011 at the Dromana pier, Mornington Peninsula
~
Carry on Tuesday #90 ~ We stay with children this week with the first verse of Longfellow’s poem The Children’s Hour:
Between the dark and the daylight
When the night is beginning to lower
Comes a pause in the day’s occupations
That is known as the Children’s Hour
+
One Single Impression #153 ~ Evening
~
Between the dark and the daylight
Slips Huckleberry time
(Like the yang of evening's yin)
A time to enjoy the adventures of impulse
Between the dark and the daylight
When the night is beginning to lower
Slips a time to enjoy
The bright lights of
Homelands
When the night is beginning to lower
Comes a pause in the day's occupations
To romp in the spirit of our river
A pause
We call
Children's Hour

AUSTRALIA ~ The Antipodes
I love a sunburnt country / A land of sweeping plains / Of ragged mountain ranges / Of droughts and flooding rains / I love her far horizons / I love her jewel-sea / Her beauty and her terror / The wide brown land for me / ~ Dorothea Mackellar (1885-1968)

That's the nicest picture I have seen. Aww!! So cute!! So caring and sharing...a true children's moment. Sure that was an irresistible impulse for the little boy.
Perfection! Stunning example of the children's hour....
Lovely poem..yes, children's hour.. wish all the children of the world could get such an hour..
Longfellow's Children's Hour is very familiar with me...:)
When I have to write speeches for my superiors especially when the affair is about children's presentations and programs, I always start the message with Longfellow's...:)
And I could only smile as Gemma is so familiar with it too!
Very nice thoughts here my friend!
A different take on the prompt , ah thats lovely !
How did you get the effects on the picture? :) It makes it so endearing, Gemma.. the Children's Hour..and a quality in the child that's good to see..
Your 'children's hour' is just awesome!!! Love the pix with it.
Oh, yes! How wonderfully charming this is.
It seems that so far my favorite word has something to do with enchanting!
Such a vital hour. Beautiful.
Lovely image and imagery. Carried me along with your words.
I really enjoyed "Huckleberry time;" lovely shorthand to describe it!
