Me and My Shadow...

Pic by Gemma Wiseman ~ A seagull on the Dromana beach sands, Mornington Peninsula.
I was attracted to this particular seagull because it had markings which seemed a little different from the usual black patterns on other seagulls.

This gull seems to walk proudly on the beach. He is not obnoxious like many of these avians, just strolling across the sands on a warm day - just like the human visitors today. Nice day and bird, too!

Though I can't look out my window and see shadows at least I can view sunny days on the other side of the world and enjoy your haiku as a bonus.

yes, nice shadow shot. The bird's feather matched the sand.

This gull looks rather regal as it patrols it's section of the beach with its shadow.

Perhaps it's a juvenile gull, not rid of the spots of its childhood or grown into the feathers of its adulthood yet. Beautiful photo, though, Gemma, either way.

He does have unusual markings for a seagull. Cute! I'm thinking he may be a youngster. He looks small! Samll but very proud!

Yes I'm still on holidays but they will be over soon. I'm back at work on Wednesday. They sure go quickly! Was hoping for a little more sunshine for the holidays...oh well. You must be preparing to go back soon? A couple of weeks maybe? Enjoy what time off you have left Gemma :)

Oh dear friend, my life is a work a day every day, though I don't work in a shop every day, it always involves something work related, however, when you do something you love, you can't really call it work...right!

Sundays are filled with projects to work on if it's sunny, or an antiquing trip to my fave haunts to visit friends and buy inventory...I've settled in with winter...I'm resolved!!!

Every year of my life as a shop owner has been filled with dread as winter approaches, however, this year I said NO MORE...I'm going to enjoy winter and let it come and go as it may...not worry about soaring heating bills or lagging sales, I'm just gonna ride the wave and see what will be...and so far so good.

My crazy new project,Junk Whores, will be something my friend Lorie and I have been wanting to do...flea markets and shows!

It's a lot of work, packing and sorting and hauling, but meeting new people and sharing experiences is all a part of the game...and age is only a number and I'm determined to keep it that way...I may turn wrinkled and gray, but they'll say, SHE HAD GUTS to follow her dream at her age.

I feel so fortunate to live this dream that many would envy...but, this creative soul has no choice...I live for the art in all that I see...just think what it would be like if I lived near the sea!!!

Enjoy your week of freedom again Ms.Gemma...think of me while you're walking the sands and breathing in the summer, I'll try not to wish for a speedy springtime so you can enjoy yours a bit longer!!! I'm glad you can put away the school time projects long enough to dream!!!

Many frosty hugs and a chilly smooch from Iowa friend!

Yes, love his markings on his back...they kind of repeat the sand patterns too! Enjoy your week Gemma!

Quite right, Gemma. I wonder if he is a young bird who has not grown into mature markings yet.
