Pic by Gemma Wiseman ~ This colourful beetle appeared on my Dromana Hills verandah yesterday afternoon.
I have never seen one like this before.
The closest I can find is a dogbane or rainbow beetle.
But they seem to be in northern America?
There seems to be no beetle like this in Australia?
Notice its strangely blue legs!
One of those blue legs at the front seems to be deformed, barely visible.

what an interesting beetle. reminds me of the Japanese beetle but i'm sure it's not one. and your seagull in the post below is precious. almost looks like he's trying to sleep. have a great day.
I wonder if it has hitchhiked it's way to Australia. I don't recognize the blue legs either, but I'm no expert on bugs.
Wow! How pretty is he? Love it.
wow! he's beautiful
other worldly
what a fascinating critter
your photo shows him off so perfectly
Just beautiful. I love beetles like this one.
I've seen this beetle before on blogs, but not in reality. I would like to have blue legs! (wink wink)
Wmmm, it looks like what I heard was a hitch hiked beetle from Asia to the USA. Maybe it hitch hiked there too. But I am no entomologist.
