AUSTRALIA ~ The Antipodes

AUSTRALIA ~ The Antipodes
I love a sunburnt country / A land of sweeping plains / Of ragged mountain ranges / Of droughts and flooding rains / I love her far horizons / I love her jewel-sea / Her beauty and her terror / The wide brown land for me / ~ Dorothea Mackellar (1885-1968)

Simple Elegance

Pic by Gemma Wiseman ~ Once upon a time, this was a ballroom at the Brighton International, Melbourne.
Now it is mainly used for functions such as weddings and conferences.
I attended a small 2 day conference here and we were given a little area to the side.
But the atmosphere was still magical.

I love how you put two opposite adjectives in the title and really showed it in the photo...

The elegance of the past may feel lost. Yet, the details were the things we remembered from back then. Today’s details, the alternating red and green napkins are beautiful. We feel special when we enter the room that offers an invite to the function. A wonderful holiday capture! Merry Christmas!

A cool, sophisticated elegance timeless, exept for the spotlights in the ceiling.
Being very choosy, I'd wanted some kind of art or decorations on the naked walls.
But, that's me, I'm definitely not a minimalist.
Happy summer, Happy Christmas and New Year as well.

I miss your haiku.
