Pic by Gemma Wiseman ~ Sometimes in the haste to find lush green hills, blue seas and skies, pretty flowers and bright coloured Autumn leaves we overlook "other" beauties of Nature.
Here is the last sigh of a liquidamber, starkly wondrous against a pale grey sky.

Just bare fractured twigs
Just some crumpled pale bruised leaves
Just a rare beauty

AUSTRALIA ~ The Antipodes
I love a sunburnt country / A land of sweeping plains / Of ragged mountain ranges / Of droughts and flooding rains / I love her far horizons / I love her jewel-sea / Her beauty and her terror / The wide brown land for me / ~ Dorothea Mackellar (1885-1968)

I agree, another beauty indeed. Sometimes we tend to miss things when were rushed. Glad you were able to slow down and enjoy the scenery.

That is so beautiful. Great shot.
you have an excellent eye gemma,, this is a very stark but very beautiful shot..
Great shot, Gemma! Love the little details - you'd never notice in the full flush of summer.
Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. You found beauty here and did a great joy of potraying that beauty.
It;s odd realizing you're in winter and we have it at 90*,here in florida.Your photos make look forward to cooler weather.
I love the sombre beauty of Autumn and you have captured it beautifully. I'm one of those wierdo's who prefers cooler weather and more soothing light anyway, and plants all bare and gone to seed are wonderful.
