AUSTRALIA ~ The Antipodes
I love a sunburnt country / A land of sweeping plains / Of ragged mountain ranges / Of droughts and flooding rains / I love her far horizons / I love her jewel-sea / Her beauty and her terror / The wide brown land for me / ~ Dorothea Mackellar (1885-1968)

Gemma, this is stunning. I love the sky when it has this type of cloud cover. It always makes me wonder what is behind the clouds.
I hope all is well with you. I've missed you at Pink Saturday.
The rich imagery of this haiku has the influence of the Japanese great Haiku master, Basho, but the biting sentiment of human drama you put in the 3rd line has the influenced of my favorite haiku writers, Taniguchi Buson (1715-1783) who infused human drama in his works and Issa(1762-1827)who infused human affairs in his verses dressed in haiku.
True to most of your haiku pieces, you achieve to put together this influences and elements to your works giving it your riginal touch and style which I believe is the strength of your pieces.
I wish you well.
