This bird is not only an exquisite specimen but quite a showman.

Gemma,

You are becming a master of the Japanese original literary form - you have perfected it and created your distinct voice and style in this form.

This particular piece, is reminiscent of the 17th century Japanese literature's great mind Karai Hachiemon who originated the Senryu form("the river willow" and his pen name). The form resembles the haiku syllable count but unlike the haiku it is more witty, welcomes humor, biting and is often vulgar unlike the haiku which is more serious verse.

You have mastered your craft in both the haiku and the senryu form or in japanese style. I wonder if you have tried Tanka? It's a five-line Japanese original poetry style in 5-7-5-7-7 syllable count respectively. Here's a sample from my creations:

"Prayer, Song, Poem" (Tanka)

The best of prayers

Are chants from the heart in songs.

I don’t have a gift,

A voice to pray in a song.

And so I pray through my poems.

---

Your haiku collection with your lovely photographs to compliment your words could be a book of poetry and I bit it would sell well.

I wish you well.

Love your 'winks of pink' below, what beautiful winter skies, as my skies are summer storm skies...very dangerous, yet majestic...I click, then run for cover!

Your little feathered friend looks like he's holding a microphone...wonder what song he's singing?

Take care and stay warm, 93 here, shouldn't be hard to stay warm...

hugs,

It never ceases to amaze me that cockatoos fly free there.

This one stands out beautifully against the blue sky and red roof.

Great shot! Yes, it looks like the cockatoo is saying Hi to all of us. :)

Indeed, this is a regal looking bird, just sitting, observing and lording over the mere mortals below. A stylish, indeed a beautiful bird!
