Tangled woods
Reach for grey sunlights
Sleep by grey waters
Weep quietly in grey winds

Winter is a river of intimate time when
The soul snuggles deep in
Some technicoloured dreamcoat
Adrift in some bark
Waiting

A FEW NOTES: In the first pic, the tree outline has been darkened to emphasise the artistry of shape! The second pic is simply a "greyed out" background and darkened tree to highlight the lovely shape. The third pic has had some extra darkening to the tree shapes, last hanging leaves on limbs, and then a blur effect has been added plus a sepia tone. (I'm afraid that I played a fair bit with this one! Couldn't resist!) The fourth pic has simply been taken as a black and white pic with no effects added later!

I really liked the slow fade to grey of each (great) photo and the poetry just made it a great experience to visit your site.
Happy (winter) day!

I too love the line 'The soul snuggles deep', as our winter will soon be upon us. I am now seeing the signs of change through the wildlife and their knowledge of what is to come...brrrrrr...my walnut trees are dropping their leaves, not a good sign.

Gemma,

The emotions behind the photographs and the words in this poem is heavy and are fully expressed which affected me in such a profound way - the anthropomorphism of the elements of the winter season into your emotion as poet and mine as well, as a reader met half across the heavens in a collision that ended up in a strong merging of the mind and heart - I feel very connected.

It's amazing that poetry could connect people this way.

I wish you well.

A truly beautiful poem that can stands alone without the photos but is enhanced by the striking photos of the winter tree.
