Tangled woods
Reach for grey sunlights
Sleep by grey waters
Weep quietly in grey winds

Winter is a river of intimate time when
The soul snuggles deep in
Some technicoloured dreamcoat
Adrift in some bark
Waiting

A FEW NOTES: In the first pic, the tree outline has been darkened to emphasise the artistry of shape! The second pic is simply a "greyed out" background and darkened tree to highlight the lovely shape. The third pic has had some extra darkening to the tree shapes, last hanging leaves on limbs, and then a blur effect has been added plus a sepia tone. (I'm afraid that I played a fair bit with this one! Couldn't resist!) The fourth pic has simply been taken as a black and white pic with no effects added later!

very good B/w shots - makes these photos look like artwork
Very good greyscale pics.
That's a great Dee Word for sure
Fabulous shots; I especially like the sepia one with the reflections.
I really liked the slow fade to grey of each (great) photo and the poetry just made it a great experience to visit your site.
Happy (winter) day!
Love that first shot!
Well, I'm glad this isn't a spelling-bee, because I would have struck-out on the word "deciduous" 'fer sure...
Interesting photos.
that is a lovely set of pictures.
A great mix of art and words, Gemma.
I agree with Gordon - the sepia one.
Nature can still be beautiful even when so barren. Great pics.

Reflecting on writers groups
wonderful images, excellent.
The soul snuggles deep
I absolutely LOVE that line. Fabulous.
And your pictures are always amazing.
Great series of pictures. I love how you captures the dead trees.
I too love the line 'The soul snuggles deep', as our winter will soon be upon us. I am now seeing the signs of change through the wildlife and their knowledge of what is to come...brrrrrr...my walnut trees are dropping their leaves, not a good sign.

How clever and I love the look of the trees. Thank you for your kind comments on my blog...Michelle
Beautiful poem about winter! Makes me look at it differently and not dread it so much!
And your photographs are awesome!
Those strak twisting branches against the light skies are wonderful shots.
Nice artistic images. I think your post is the only one using the word deciduous.
wONDERFUL! D is for deciduous. Awesome and speechless!

Fine photos and superb words. The winter description is awesome!
I enjoy the way you have described winter. The photos are the perfect accompaniment.
These are awesome shots of deciduous trees in winter. I like the starkness of the photos! Well done. :D
These are amazing photos , they are so clear and detailed. You have added some real atmoshpere.
I can only echo what others have said; well done.
great shots g, the second w/the tint is awesome... there is so much color inbetween the greys...trees are just as beautiful w/o the leaves...the soul snuggles deep... those are beautiful words of winter...
Gemma,
The emotions behind the photographs and the words in this poem is heavy and are fully expressed which affected me in such a profound way - the anthropomorphism of the elements of the winter season into your emotion as poet and mine as well, as a reader met half across the heavens in a collision that ended up in a strong merging of the mind and heart - I feel very connected.
It's amazing that poetry could connect people this way.
I wish you well.

A truly beautiful poem that can stands alone without the photos but is enhanced by the striking photos of the winter tree.
Just gorgeous picture, and the poem embraces them so well.
