The Experiment ~ for Sunday Scribblings

Steve Pavlina Welcome to the home of the Million Dollar Experiment. The goal of this experiment is to attempt to use the power of intention to manifest $1 million for each person who chooses to participate. It is 100% free, and there are no costs of any kind. This experiment is based on the intention-manifestation model of reality, where the goal is to generate $1 million of additional wealth for each person who chooses to participate.
If you wish to participate, all you need to do is to decide to put forth the following intention:
In an easy and relaxed manner, in a healthy and positive way, in its own perfect time, for the highest good of all, I intend $1,000,000 to come into my life and into the lives of everyone who holds this intention.
~
This would have to be the ultimate experiment of thought ~ moving reality blocks, climbing mountains and swimming oceans of chance. If it works, even in the smallest way, what does that prove exactly? Circumstantial evidence of good fortune? Only maybe.
~
For those more philosophically inclined, it could prove far more. It could show that physical reality is a lesser power than conscious thought. It means it is possible to will the jigsaw of physical reality into a pre-determined pattern. The key is a common belief - spanning time and space - that collective willpower is collective strength.
~
The very fact that the experiment is being conducted (+ 1599 active, registered participants) shows there are those who believe it could be. Participants are those who have agreed to include their real names on a guest list. But the experiment invites even those who wish to remain anonymous. So how many are there really? And how many are a bit skeptical and may join just to prove it is all nonsense?
~
The little mantra is only required to be uttered for about 60 seconds a day. So tempting to try! Of course, it won't work. But hey! What if it does?
~
In an easy and relaxed manner, in a healthy and positive way, in its own perfect time, for the highest good of all, I intend $1,000,000 to come into my life and into the lives of everyone who holds this intention.

Autumn is the Bridesmaid of Spring ~~~ Option 4 for Cafe Writing

Spring cherry blossom in Korea.

Autumn in Victoria, Australia.

Option Four: Pick Three
The first day of spring was once the time for taking the young virgins into the fields, there in dalliance to set an example in fertility for nature to follow. Now we just set the clocks an hour ahead and change the oil in the crankcase.– E.B. White
Pick at least three of the following eight words, and write a paragraph, scene, flash-fic, essay, blog entry or poem using them. It’s fine to change tenses, or pluralize if you want to, but please bold the words you choose.
spring, change, virgin, dalliance, fertile, nature, oil, crank

Destiny and Fate - for Writer's Island

Destiny is something we choose to go after.... Fate is something that happens to us, and seemingly takes away our choices, but in fact actually leads us back towards the choice of Destiny we already made before we were born. - Order of the White Lion

Jane Archer had the original idea for Destiny Fortune Chocolates at the beginning of 1997. Even though it was simple it had not been done before.
They are in fact a world first. As New Zealand made the Chinese gooseberry into the kiwifruit she re-invented the Chinese fortune cookie into the Fortune Chocolate. She felt Destiny Fortune Chocolates with the half moon in the logo was perfect for this new concept, and trademarked it.
A few weeks later she found just the right chocolate. They are now handmade in New Zealand from this original family recipe, using real chocolate and a liqueur flavour (non-alchoholic).
Jane also wanted the messages to be original. She therefore drew her inspiration for them from her own experiences in life. This was largely influenced by her exposure to humanity during her many years as a nurse.
She'd observed that everybody seemed to be motivated by the desire to have "that good feeling" (happy, content, inspired, fulfilled, hope, love, joy). She therefore wanted to encourage that feeling in whoever received her messages.
After finding a way to put the messages in the wrapping, Jane trialled them with people from all walks of life with a great response. They first went on sale in a cafe in Christchurch, New Zealand in November 1997, where they continue to sell sucessfully today.

Picture Imperfect: Reflections on Humanity - Fate. Like a tree, roots fixed firmly in the ground. Which branch I climb is my choice to make.
~~~~~~~~~~~~
Destiny is like our shining Light Angel, winging a little ahead of us as we amble our inner landscapes. And Fate is our Earth Angel, grounding us in Nature's Tree of Life. Destiny always seems to be like a holy grail; a beautiful dream with the charm of hope. But Fate often seems to be a kind of chained nightmare with the despair of a hangman's noose. But if we see Destiny as a travelling light rather than a product and if we see Fate as a growing tree, then we can see them both as angels far more clearly.
Our Light Angel leads, while our Earth Angel walks close by, shadowing our every move.
Rising - for Writer's Island
The House of the Rising Sun has been recorded by Nina Simone, Bob Dylan, The Animals and Joan Baez PLUS The Doors of course (for Paisley)- to name a few.
Pic by Zabelle, Portland, Connecticut - Originally Charles Washington's house in Fredericksburg, Virginia. He lived here for 20 years before moving to Charlestown. Now it is Rising Sun Tavern.
The Rising - album by Bruce Springsteen. Half the songs were written by Bruce Springsteen in response to September 11, 2001. Paradise, You're Missing, Empty Sky, The Fuse, Into the Fire, Worlds Apart and the title song The Rising were written post 9/11.
The Rising Sun is the longest yacht in the world - 452 feet. 82 rooms on five stories with a total living area >8,000 square meters.
On Christopher: Artist Blog Press release, April 3, 2007 - Canadian solo artist Christopher recorded a 27 minute re-interpretation of Jimmy Page’s notorious `Lucifer Risingsoundtrack...Page’s 23 minute soundtrack was scrapped from the same-titled Kenneth Anger occult-themed film and has never been officially released.“The film and music is shrouded in mystery, mishaps, a curse; and excess. They were ripe for re-interpretation and the invocative nature of the music and film resonated with me.”
“The soundtrack Page created was ahead of its time. The unsettling tibetan chants and the even tempered tambura that carries the whole soundtrack were used in a way that would be only looked into several years later by other composers. It’s a shame that the ideas Page employed were not committed to the final edit of the film. It truly does live up to its name.”The re-recording is a tribute to a great piece of truly `underground’ and `unsettling’ music. (The Page soundtrack is usually found on various Led Zeppelin Bootlegs and recently was a feature in UK’s Classic Rock Magazine)
Rising from the pumpkin patch This one, sent to us by David Fowler of uC Hobby, uses printer mechanics, a BASIC Stamp, and a Park Zone light (an ultrasonic proximity detector used for tight-space garage parking). It senses when someone is close to the front door and triggers a pumpkin to rise from the planter box on the porch.
From Elmwood Magic comes Rising Coin Castle. You ask a spectator to sign a coin, and put this coin in the drawer at the bottom of the Tower. The coin now visibly RISES in the Tower's window! Suddenly the coin vanishes and at the same moment a click is heard. You have the spectator open the locked box at the top of the tower. Inside the small Locked Box is their coin!
And YES - the Tower's drawer is now EMPTY!
Riches and Rich People
ABC News has just announced:
Forrest named Australia's richest man
Posted 3 hours 42 minutes ago
Western Australian iron ore billionaire Andrew Forrest has been named Australia's wealthiest person in the annual Forbes rich list.
The list was compiled according to stock prices and net worth valuations on February 11 and estimates Mr Forrest is worth $6.5 billion.
He is ranked 145th on the worldwide list, making him the highest placed Australian, 28 places above gaming entrepreneur James Packer.
The world's richest man is American businessman Warren Buffet, who has taken the title from Microsoft's Bill Gates after 13 years.
~
In 2007 Brilliant Careers Salon announced:
the so-called Oracle of Omaha has made many people very wealthy over the course of his five-decade career. Buffet's own 38 percent stake in Berkshire Hathaway gives him a net worth of more than $36 billion, making him the second-wealthiest man in the world, behind his friend Bill Gates, and one of the few who has amassed such astonishing riches solely through stock market investments.
~
Notably, Watten Buffet is not known as being a philanthropist. He solely wishes to pass on his company to unnamed heirs. But can they live up to walking in Warren Buffet's shoes?
~
So, I am wondering why. What is the drive and what is the real value of such a lifestyle if it all spirals around a megalomaniacal desire to succeed further than anyone else in the business world? Who would admire such a person? Only a Bill Gates could understand the inner satisfaction? But more interesting, who would be jealous of such a person's success? Is it worthy of jealousy in fact?
~
I, for one, have maybe the rather strange reaction of indifference. Perhaps not being a corporate guru helps me to assume the mantel of indifference. I would have to rank as what I would call the "poor upper middle class". We are a new breed of educated society who once had money and property but circumstance took it all away. Now we dream about it, and feed our old hunger occasionally with a "lash out" served by the famous credit card. The action services a kind of colonial identity and then we must pay for that weakness fourfold over some domino chunking of time.
~
Maybe, in a sense I am pretending not to be envious. Like so many, I work hard but money generated barely meets survival demands. It is not enough to have a good work ethic any more. Corporate smarts win hands down.
~
But I feel that in so many ways, there are riches to be had far beyond money. As a teacher, I watch students walk on to new stages in life. I see a young man who once could not write a sentence. Now he proudly and corrctly sets out an electrician's docket. I find out that an ex-student decides to share an evening of reading poetry with a current student, just to help him out. Currently, I am still dealing with pneumonia but going to work anyways. It's quite a strain on the voice. By the afternoon, there are more coughing fits than sane instruction. But then, a student steps in and volunteers to read information for awhile - out loud to the class. Notably, the student is one of the regular pains in Year 9. And these are just a sample of some amazing, priceless moments over the past week. In my teaching career, I have a goldmine of them that my bank account knows nothing about.
~
And as I type these fresh memories, I begin recalling details of so many others. Of course I would like a little more security in my bank account. I am getting older and should be thinking of retiring. That just can't happen. But if that means sacrificing gathering more of these treasures, then there can be only one answer. I would never swap the wealth I have now which accumulates and gathers momentum for time to come. I feel honoured to have such an important role in life where others can live beyond their expectations.
Empowered and Rivalry - for Writer's Island
Rivalry ~
Clashed
Clenched
Clamour ~
Conniving
Cunning ~
Cutting
Chaotic
Contest ~
Chagrin ~
Can be
Empowering
~
There is something about competition that fires the spirit.
What may begin as tame rivalry, becomes a proving ground.
No longer ~ I can do it!
But ~ I can do better!
I can do better than him/her!
I AM BETTER!
~
Rivalry tests and feeds self-confidence.
Is that bad?
It can be bad if it becomes a passion for rivalry's sake.
Sometimes, what may begin as "honest" rivalry, testing a level of knowledge or skill against another's, evolves into a manic need to be better than the other person. More than skill and knowledge is at stake. An ego, a sense of self importance is on the line. "It" (not I) must win!
And when the decision is made at all costs!, then other, more devious factors come into play.
Tactics become a weapon of choice. The dark power of cunning and deceit become the bullets. Crippling a victim becomes the quest. All power to the conquering, blustering, self-opiniated ego! Competition? What competition? It's no contest!
~
Sinuous seeds
Soggy soils
Sordid shame
~
But then, never under-estimate the humble "little people", who know the power of their own truth, and do not need manipulative tactics to prove it. They may look unempowered, but truth has a habit of establishing a power far beyond mortal ken. Just wait awhile!
~
The Christians waited awhile for the mighty Romans to implode on their own egos.
Nature waits awhile for humanity to hang itself on its own artificial sense of superior progress.
~
While rivalry remains a test of skill and knowledge, simultaneously acknowledging and respecting the power of "the opponent", then it is a healthy power for the spirit. But when the power of the opponent is ignored, mocked or abused, the natural truth of yin and yang has a disturbing sense of knowing just how to right the balance more than effectively.
