One Single Impression prompt #23 ~ Folly
~
Like simple
Hasty
Line drawings
Stuffed with painted plastic
And dumped
On a line of
"Notice Me" posts
These pseudo pelicans
Grace the fringe of
A Hastings children's playground
~
Pic by Gemma Wiseman ~ Real pelicans at Hastings
~
Yet just around the corner
Low
On muddied sands
Beneath the pier
Roam
The real pelicans

But Safety Beach must claim
The Crown of Ultimate Folly ~
Near a children's playground
(Again)
Soaring to the skies
All alone is
An artificial penguin
~
Strangely
Just around the corner
Any corner
No penguins roam ~
They prefer life on
Phillip Island
(Across the Westernport waters from Hastings)
Where no artificial penguins
(Or pelicans)
Exist

well i think it was wise on the part of the park planners to go with the artificial pelicans and penguins,, after all children need no incentive to play with poop..LOL!!!
Lovely shot of the pseudo pelicans!
TOO PLAY WITH POOP...now I'm getting the urge ponder this point...I love pelicans, their poop...unfamiliar territory.

I loved the first! It just tickles the tongue!
'Line drawings Stuffed with painted plastic' on 'Notice me posts' brings to mind some of our rather spoliled youth! haha!
Cute pictures. It is nice to have a bit of foolishness now and again!
I especially like the first one. "Notice Me Posts." cool phrase. I have to confess to kind of liking them... and the real ones too. Good series.
I don't know what to write in response but I am smiling as I read this. It must have been fun creating them, life is full of cartoon characters. Nice pictures.
What fun - the possibilities in this post are unlimited. Profound and humorous...nice combo!
Fun stuff here, Gemma. Thanks for being a bright light. I love these pelicans.
"notice me posts"...I won't look at a creature sitting on a post again without thinking of this line. Terrific.
Nice work Gemma. A lot of emphasis fell, for me, on the "and dumped".
Pseudo pelicans...I like that!

PS: Your blog takes take a long time to load!
Fun words to go with your great photos!
.."cartoon characters"_"Profound and humorous"~many thanks..
An excellent poem!
Thank You for sharing it.
All that keeps going through my head is the "poem" my mother taught me -- and that I've since taught my kids, rebels that we are:
What a wonderful bird is the pelican.
His beak holds more than his belly can.
I don't know how the hell he can.
Folly galore. I love your series!
