Desire - for Writers' Island
Conched
Enchantment
Drunk
With purple light
~
Pulsing longing
Scans
Softly
Undulating
Waters~
And in the ray
Is a fjord~
A possibility
Of sailing
Between
Tight
Craggy
Peaks
~
But the closer the dream
The further the fall
~
A heady spiral
Fractured
With
Invading
Rocks
And stones
Spins~
(like riotous anarchy)
Into some abyss
Seething
With hot
Golden orbs
~
Heaven is
A fractal place~
A helpless
Plunge
Into hell
~
Awakening~
If there is one~
May only be a
Midnight moon
Darkly lighting
Old
Slumbering
Textures~
Skeleton silhouettes
Like willows
Weeping~
Weeping
By still
Desirous waters
Running
Very
Very
Deep

you always manage so much with so few... i especially likes this line....
Heaven is
A fractal place~
A helpless
Plunge
Into hell
and what else would you expect from something so well advertised?????
I'm new to Writers Island and in a way new to poetry. I don't always understand it, but what I've noticed on my first visits to the Islanders is that the poet places life and emotion into nature perfectly.
Such a beautiful spot you have here...I also love the lines "heaven is/ a fractal place"-- Nice work!
That last stanza is a killer..
Fractal conjures up so much more...
Housing my soul
We all seem to be finding your fractal space reference beautiful. This is SO nice.
Thanks for getting your comment to me by the back route! I've addressed the problem now!
I am impressed by how this poem appears to be narrow and deep just like its subject matter.
This would work really well if you read it out loud, maybe in a duet, with the second voice doing the italics. It's got a real depth that I think would come out orally.
As it is, it's a strong poem. Nicely done!
I like 'heaven is a fractal place'

I loved those lines..
so many beautiful images...and closing lines... by still desirous waters running very very deep ....awesome....
Moving, the words flow along and take you on a journey of ups and downs...my favorite lines are:
"But the closer the dream
The further the fall"
OH how true that feels some time.
First visit, still pretty new to WI but glad I found you!
Finely chosen words that surely reflect the prompt. Fractals are superb and your words are awesome!
I had trouble getting to the words as I was so enchanted by everything else along the way, but there were some beautiful word poems in there too!
Very nicely done. You have a way with words it just really makes you come alive and feel the passion you have when writing this piece.
