Pic by Gemma Wiseman ~ Close up of one of the wild cockatoos who visits my verandah, Dromana Hills, Mornington Peninsula.
These birds have a loud screech and can be very destructive.
But their antics are funny.
And they are very beautiful!

I'm reminded of strolling through the public gardens (was it the Royal Botanical Gardens?) in Sydney, many years ago. Hubs and I suddenly came across scores of these cockatoos! For us, never having seen one outside of a cage, it was the most amazing thing ever - and a reminder... :-)
Beautiful shot! Thanks for the memories...

Beautiful bird and a great close-up. For someone who has only seen one in a pet store, it's amazing that you see them wild like that.
OH my! I'm sure their antics can be irritating, but what an amazing thing it must be to see these birds in the wild. You got a great photo of this one!
That's a beautiful bird and so well photographed.
What a great bird...I can't imagine seeing one like this up close. He's so handsome.
