Ruby Collage

Pic collage by Gemma Wiseman ~ My red coat for surviving icy chills, red flowers growing in McCrae, (determined to bloom in winter) and a red plastic bag, one of many I use for storing odd bits!
~
Ruby Tuesday prompt ~ red images
~

Pieces of red
On windy winter days
Always seem to warm the spirit
~
Pieces of red ~
Visual illusions
Of fire and heat
Like a hot spa

Rusty Illusions

Odd Shots Monday prompt on Katney's Kaboodle ~ This week, Katney posted a very disturbing shot of many pipes loaded (precariously?) on the back of a truck. Imagine many slotted views through the pipes!
~

Rusted
A little weather bent
Blurred with salt
But I can still reflect
Moods of the sea and sky
~
And the fragmented
Illusion of
A broken
Pathway

Creative Photography # 3 ~ Tears of Light

Pic by Gemma Wiseman ~ Apple Candlelight
~
Creative Photography Contest #3
~
This candlelight always fascinates me. It casts beautiful teardrop shapes. I placed the lit candle on my wooden stairway so that the shapes would be highlighted! Then created a rough edge on the pic to suggest that this is just a precious fragment of more light!
~

Flickering light
Is a pure song
Like
Angelic choirs
Serenading
The shadows
~

Bright Sunset Glow

Glowing heartbeats of a sunset
Can never really be seen
And felt
Clearly
Without the dark leaves
And shadowy
Wires
Of night

Doorway Profiles

Collage of Gemma Wiseman's pics ~ Doorways
~
One Single Impression prompt ~ Doorway
~

Some doorways are sealed tight
With wired grills and locks ~
Manufactured security
~
Some old doorways yield
A useful opening for mail ~
Filtered communication
~
Some doorways are partly
Glass eyes
~
And some only awaken
The colours
Of secrets
With a little
Night light
~

Silent Sentinels

Springing from a tiny road ~
(Weaving away from
The gleam and sway of
Bay waters) ~
A secret
Surprising
Elegant
Driveway
Leads to
The colours of dreams
~
A serene lake
Teeming with wildlife
Is wine for the eyes
And a cellar door ~
Laced with lemon trees
Ringed in casks ~
Offers boutique wine
For the spirit
~
Pic by Gemma Wiseman ~ Casked lemon trees
~

But the silent sentinels ~
Gracing
All comings
And goings ~
Seem like mystic
Bemused seers
Guardians of time
Who have seen it all ~
Watching a cast of actors
Play a part
Perform a moment in time
And leave with bubbles
Of memory
Tightly corked
In a bottle

Pic by Gemma Wiseman ~ Trees lining the Stillwater Crittendon Estate driveway
~
NOTE: These trees almost gleam with a ghostly, grey-white glow. As I drove out of the beautiful Stillwater Crittendon Estate winery, (at Dromana on the Mornington Peninsula), there seemed to be quite an intense drama emanating from these trees. It could have been the chilly winter afternoon, broken only with brief bursts of rain and sunlight. It could have been the fact that I only came to the winery seeking new pics and felt a little over-awed with the beauty of the place ~ with its villa accomodation by a lovely lake and rather up-market restaurant and cellar door. It could have been I longed to stay a little longer, but felt like an intruder.

Sea and Shadows

Hey Harriet prompt~ Shadow Shot Sunday #6

Shadows of woods
Shadows of laced wire
Defiant bars
Cropping
Sunlight with
Dark textures

But the cross shadow of
A humble wooden seat ~
Offering dreaming space
High above the sea ~
Creates the mathematical possibility that
Shadows are not equal to
Ugliness

Foiled

Pic by Gemma Wiseman ~ Hastings pier
Weekend Wordsmith prompt ~ It didn't happen
~

I longed to wander the pier
Right out into rippling waves and sea air
But there was lots of wire
Long and spiked
Dividing the official
From the casual
I longed to be free
It didn't happen
~

Pic by Gemma Wiseman ~ Stony Point station, Mornington Peninsula
I longed to capture the train
Sinking
With a sigh into
The end of the line
I waited
I waited
It didn't happen
~

Pic by Gemma Wiseman ~ Pelicans at Hastings
I longed to forget finding
A precious digital moment
Today
And just go home ~
But a surprise pose
From a photogenic pelican
Ensured
It didn't happen
~

Kookaburra Curiosity

Pic by Gemma Wiseman ~ Curiosity begins with one watcher
~
Writer's Island prompt ~ Curiosity
~

Kookaburra curiosity is
Subtle curiosity
~
The play begins with
A lonely watcher
Who looks as if he is intrigued
With somewhere else
But just happens
To be in a tree
Overlooking your driveway
And just happens
To have landed there
When you drive home
~
Pic by Gemma Wiseman ~ There are 2 of us here!
~
Kookaburra curiosity is all about
Keeping movements
In leafy shadows
~

Pic by Gemma Wiseman ~ 2 watchers in waiting
~
It is all about being
Cool
Nonchalent
~

Pic by Gemma Wiseman ~ Curiosity is tuned teamwork
~
It is all about being
Tuned
Together
~

Pic by Gemma Wiseman ~ 3 cosy Kookaburras
~
It is all about looking
Cute ~
Pretending your movements
Are of passing interest ~
But when you toss down
Some food
We will gracefully dive down
Just short of where the food lies ~
Watch you ~
And then hop over
To partake in your offerings
~
We will reward you with
A roll of hearty laughter
In some distant
Shady
Leaves

Powder Puffs and Liquids

Write on Wednesday prompt ~ What's your line?

My creative impulse
Always links to water
And clouds

Liquid motions and
Fleeting powder puffs

Summer Soul Food

Pic by Gemma Wiseman ~ Pig and Whistle restaurant, Arthurs Seat, Mornington Peninsula
~
Totally Optional Prompts ~ Summer
~

Think of summer
Think of cool blue waters
Tumbling onto hot gold sands ~
Usually
~
Maybe
Think of summer
And think of shady forests
Circling mountain slopes ~
Sometimes
~
Yet
Summer is also
A time to dine outdoors
Enjoying a salad
A wine or two
At wooden tables
Beneath bright summer skies ~
It is a time to taste
Soul food
With nature
~
Today I glimpsed summer
In spite of the chilly breezes ~
The tables were empty ~
Almost hollow ~
But the huge umbrellas
Were still there
Folded
Waiting to blossom with
The lyrics of
A summer song
~

You watchin' me?

Morning Skies

Pic by Gemma Wiseman ~ Morning light over Dromana beach, Mornington Peninsula (I took a series of pics of this sky. It was just amazing. I have already posted one view of it earlier in my blog. It was called On the Edge of Night ~ June 9, 2008. Now this is a second version.)
~
Sky Watch Friday prompt
~

Crisp morning skies are
Streams of pastel gems
Sailing powdery rivers
~
Silver feathers
Dusting off sleep
~
The art of beauty
Nature's way

P.S. This is my first posting for Sky Watch. So many participate in this weekly event, I thought I should be well-prepared to post early. And thank you so much Bobbie for suggesting I enter!

Crazy rear window shots

Pic by Gemma Wiseman ~ Seagull with suitable components at Hastings
~
While I adore taking beautiful landscape shots, there is a quirky side in me that loves finding the odd, the weird and the pics with an extra message. Super Plus Race Components - right at the feet of a seagull, proudly viewing the world from a lofty height, amused me. I saw possibilities.

3WW Prompt #92 ~ rumour + shake + spontaneous
~

From high above ~
Ensconced on your precious
Hunk of metal ~
I view your world
With a touch of
Wry
Superior
Humour ~
You may wonder
On our racing prowess ~

You may believe
It is an urban rumour
Prime for an urban legend ~
But I know ~
Toss me a little food
And suddenly
You will see
The heat
The speed of
Seagull frenzy
From nowhere
~

Pic by Gemma Wiseman ~ Car sign ~ Domana Hub carpark
~
And this is a throw down challenge. I kept the words in mind, even when I took the shot. Calmly, I strolled past the car once or twice - which must have looked suspicious in the first place - but I was waiting for the sun to stop glaring on the glass. I didn't walk further in case the owner returned to the car and drove it away. I would have missed my shot! So, like it or not, in no time I must have looked like a weirdo on the prowl. Finally, sun toned down, cars stopped passing by and I whipped out my camera! Snap!
~

Frustration is when
Magazines spell out
Healthy living guides
But money always filters the equation

Spontaneous reaction meltdown

Frustration is when

Impulse glowers
Like Cerberus eyes when
Keys shake within reach
But out of reach

Alchemy

Leaden limbs may sigh home
But when light slips into
The charged blush of dreams
And clouds are fired with golds
The spirit feels
A waking zest
Of sacred wings
On the wind ~
