An old train carriage - used to be known as a red rattler - has been converted to a dining experience at Tyabb Art and Craft Centre on the Mornington Peninsula.
The Rattling Red's Kiosk, as it was when I posted about it in 2009, is now Red Rattler Train Cafe with a slight cosmetic makeover.

That car makes me imagine the days of yore where the steam train arrives at the depot - the screech of the steel wheels along the track and the hissing steam being released. Although I do prefer today's iteration, the red car a cafe for ice cream and other treats. A ruby that harkens back to the past!
Trains are my cup of tea. My favourite way of travelling and I'm sure I'd love a cup of Devonshire tea and freshly cut sandwiches as well.
Not so sure about the red umbrellas though, they kind of steals the charm and lines from the train.
But, hey, that's me, an old conservationist.
P.S.Hi, Gemma Wiseman, I just saw you are one of the RT2 hosts as well. Great cooperation. Two of my favourite meme bloggers working together.
Forgive me for being so slow. I'm just a square-headed Norwegian, you know.
A great idea and very red !
What a beautiful place! They did a great job of converting the carriage. I am sure my hubby and my son would love to visit there as they are both train enthusiast.
