Shadowy Mystery Boat

At Hastings, in the industrial area of Long Island Point, tucked back on a dirt road, is this rather odd large boat for sale.
It seems incomplete and the "for sale" sign seems to be as weathered as the boat.
And there seems to be no sign of life in buildings nearby.
Like the shadows around it, the boat is a shadowy mystery.

Strange weathered beauty
Large boat seems partly living
Shadowy secrets

This side is significantly peeling away.

So did you buy it Gemma? ;)

Great shots and I like the old boat. Not quite enough to purchase it though. Hope you're having a great weekend!

I think it would be a great investment - it would be my
Noah's Ark to work on ! An interesting shot for
its shadowy illusions!

What an interesting shadow shot for the day, Gemma! It does look as though no one has found it appealing. I think it's really cool! Hope you're enjoying a wonderful weekend!

Good shadows, but I'm not so sure about the boat!!

Oh Gemma I love this shadow shot! it reminds me of The African Queen. so rusty and weathered, but it's a beauty. happy SSS to you. Wishing you a year of good cheer in 2012. take care now.

I believe the old term 'rust bucket' is quite apt here! Built to last, the shame is that for a low purchase price (and lots of $) this could be ours. However, a boat out of water seems to be the oddest thing about this cool beauty!

Martha Z said...

It looks long forgotten.

Kelly said...

I guess it could go for scrap metal at this point. At least it provided you with some wonderful shadows!

great shot although it doesn't seem to be much of a bargain!!

I always kind of wonder what the story is. At one time it was new and shiny. It does look like it was never completed. And for some reason, even though I know nothing about watercraft, it looks almost homemade.

Did you make an offer on the boat Gemma?! It looks quite large. You could build a studio inside it! Happy SSS.

Great shadow shot, come on Gemma you should buy it, would be a wonderful "doer upper"for you for 2012. LOL!

There is a story there for sure - I wonder how much they want for it? It would make a great den for kids! - on land of course! (It doesn't look very seaworthy!)

the 2nd shot makes the weathered wood look wonderful

LV said...

What a shame and waste. The wood looks like you could do wonders with it. At least, it provided great shadows.

Maybe a victim of the Credit Crunch! No money to finish it! Oh dear!

Oh, my!!! It would seem that the boat is destined to stay there! Not very good marketing, eh? However, I am in love with all those weathered surfaces that are peeling away full of patina. I would be taking a million macro shots of that surface. Just to entertain my muse.

Are you buying it?

toby said...

Yes, it's a real fixer upper :) Great find for you, though!

Restored...it would be great!

What a great picture - interesting textures on that boat, but I'm thinking I won't be purchasing it - lol!
Hugs, Antonella :-)
P.S. I am also participating in SSS2, and I've created a free printable / digi with the shadow quote this week...
