AUSTRALIA ~ The Antipodes

AUSTRALIA ~ The Antipodes
I love a sunburnt country / A land of sweeping plains / Of ragged mountain ranges / Of droughts and flooding rains / I love her far horizons / I love her jewel-sea / Her beauty and her terror / The wide brown land for me / ~ Dorothea Mackellar (1885-1968)

Here is the entrance to Beaches, a popular restaurant at Mornington.
I like the upward slightly winding pathway leading to the arched doorway.
New life has been breathed into this building.
It used to be a church hall built in 1923.

Arched door lives again
Hunger drives the bustling feet
Food for limbs and soul

Oh, beautiful! The blue and white really make me think beach, and the arch above looks kind of like a setting sun, so the whole thing is just perfect :)
Great find!

Before I even read you commentary, I though this looked like a church hall type building. Churches and banks have a certain look to them that always give evidence of the (usually restaurant's) former life.

What a cool portal! The curvy brick walkway/ramp allows for my entrance! And, the old building has such nice detailing, its preservation a treat for the eyes - and great food as well!

I would definitely try that restaurant out and walk through those doors if I found myself in the neighborhood!
