One of the horses on a horse-drawn carriage tour in Melbourne CBD.
There are many different horse and carriage styles plus the drivers often dress up too!
These carriage tours are available at weekends and all weekdays throughout the summer school holidays.
They may be boarded in Swanston Street and tour the city main streets.
More information on 12 companies operating these tours may be found HERE!
It costs about $100 carriage hire for half an hour's tour.

he horse looks so festive in red!
An image from a fairytale! :)
The first shot in that light captured the plume against the white of the horse beautifully. It really has a magical feel to it.
Horse-drawn carriages are indeed romantic!
Love the bright red feather! I'll bet when you saw it you thought of Ruby Tuesday.
Like Carletta said, it does remind one of a fairy tale.
Oh, yes! Gemma, all of the above -- festive, magical and romantic!! Love your captures for the day, so colorful and delightful! It is fairytale time indeed! Wonderful! Have a lovely week!

Wow that's a beutiful rig!! Boom & gary of the Vermilon River, Canada.
Summer, horses and a shining red feather, what a thrill.
Ruby Tuesday gives me the best of all possible worlds.
Gemma, a lovely horse drawn carriage. Have you taken a ride? The horses do look festive. Great photo, thanks for sharing.
Pricy but fun and those carriages and horses take a fair bit to maintain. I heard somewhere that the council banned the horse'n carriage that operated in Lygon street, Carlton. I thought it was such a shame as it leant a bit of distinction to the place.
The clop-clop sounds of the equine's horseshoes on the pavement is a classic one. The horse is stylish in white, and the friendly critter is accepting of the headdress. Looks friendly too, to enjoy the much slower pace from the past, it is worth the price!
Fun way to see the city. I love the look of the horse and the red feather.
What a great way to see a town. That first shot is just delightful!
I have never been on a carriage ride, would love one.
The horse looks so cute and even pretty its red accent!
Handsome horse! Happy RT!
Mine's here.
It's as though he deliberately looked at you for a lovely shot! :)
What a dapper looking horse and a lovely carriage too, a great RT2 find :).
That first image is just outstanding. The horse, its beautiful...and the feather ever so bright and vibrant. Along with the backdrop...the photo is perfection.
My Tuesday post is: GOING BACK TO Houston, Houston, HOUSTON
Hope you gave him a sugar lump. XXX Don

Love the red feathers on the horse. The horse looks cute on it.
These are simply classic - I don't think the horse and carriage will ever go out of fashion to be honest.
I love these photos and I'll tell you why. The carriage shows just enough detail, grace, and nostalgia for me to feel like I'm walking up to it preparing for a ride. It puts me in a mood of sharing old times.
