I don't usually wander on a photo spree in the middle of the day.
Usually the summer light is too glarey (if it's not raining!)
But on this day, the sun appeared late on a grey morning, so I risked it!
Shadows were generally scarce.
But when I uploaded this photo taken near Dromana beach, I noticed that the little boy's hand seemed to be holding his fragile shadow!
(In actual fact, he only turned to me as I clicked the photo!)
I saw more than I first knew!
I had to use it!
Transient shadows
Silent dark identities
Extensions of life

You lucky lady...
can't wait to see sea soon in Spain! :)
The boy seems somehow bored with the whole process of being photographed. (Yes, I know, appearances are deceiving.)
BOOKISH SHADOWS
Shadow, shadow in my path,
You are not the Grapes of Wrath;
And yet when I hear your hums,
Something Wicked This Way Comes!
May your darkness turn to light
Like The House of Mirth, all right?
May all sadness drift away—
Send Lolita here to play!

Shadowy Path
I enjoy examining a photo to determine just how and where the shadows are coming from. I think it's interesting how his hand and arm appear to be casting the only one here!
Great timing, nonetheless!
Perhaps the shadow is making the boy stronger by holding him up. The sun may be filtered by the misty gray sky , but is allows for the activities all around the beach - and bright enough for shadows!
Cute little kid, trying like Peter Pan to hold onto his shadow! The hidden face of the little girl captivates me. IS she looking longingly at the swimsuit clad beach people? Do her parents only allow her & her big brother to only watch and not participate? Hmmmmm. Happy SSS!
Oh, great timing indeed, Gemma! What a delightful shadow shot for the day! I love it along with the sunlight on that blue water and such a cute pair! Hope you're enjoying your weekend!

there's a lot to love about this photo - the sparkling water in the background, the beach scene. I especially like his stance - one foot forward with his hand resting on the wall, creating the shadow. His stare is pretty darn cool too. great catch Gemma. I truly appreciate your comments that you leave me at my blog - they're thoughtful, encouraging, and insightful. I always respect your opinion. You "see" things that others sometimes miss and that means a whole lot. thank you very much Gemma. happy SSS to you.
Yes, I see, he is holding the shadow.
why yes you did...he has the perfect shadow in his grasp!! love it!!!
That's precious!
It's a great one, and it wraps right on up the wall. Wonder what he is thinking. LOL
Nice unintended shot! He looks startled! We both had a glare of light to deal with and I liked that you called
mine a 'streetscape'. I could only do it wearing sun glasses!
Wow he really posed for ya!
Nothing makes a better shot or post that a child. This young fellow posed just right for you.
Beautiful beach. Nice placed to relax.
What a beautiful area. The little boy does look like he is holding his shadow. What a rest capture.genie
You're right - it does look like he's trying to keep it from fleeing the scene :)
Great capture!
Gorgeous, Gemma - words and pictures.
Yes!!! You're so right on how the shadow seems to hold it all upright.
Love his face.
Old Man and the Sea
I loved... "I noticed that the little boy's hand seemed to be holding his fragile shadow!"
- beautiful!
Thanks for sharing this Gemma. x
Cute photo. The shadow does seem to be holding up the boy.
That's such a beautiful scene.
I'm not a beach person, but I admire the beauty of sand and surf.
Great shot...good eye.
Thanks for the visit.
