Last Thursday 26th January was Australia Day.
And many people flocked to the Dromana foreshore for celebrations.
Here, some are queued for a ride in the surf boat.
I was so intent trying to include all the shadow patterns on the sands, I did not notice that the pier in the background appeared to be rising to the skies!
At first, I was going to discard this photo.
But I liked the shadow patterns.
So here it is.

Gemma a post Happy Australia Day !
Isn't it funny how when we take a second look at some photos that we have almost deleted .. we have second thoughts about them ? LOL
This is a great shot girl !

I do love those surprise shadow shots!! And a great, warm, sunny capture this is! Love the beach and the water! Enjoy the remainder of your weekend, Gemma!

The focal point for me is the trio of primary colors. I like how the red, blue, and yellows stand out for me!
I like the patterns too! The lines fall over the sepia sand so well under the bright sun. The nearby people are awaiting a great time and that pier extends toward the horizon. A fun time and a view worth keeping!
I like the illusion! Cropping up to the pier end would
have done it, but the shadows are the point here! A pleasant looking day for celebrating...
gasp! never discard!! too cute! loving the pier. happy sss2 gemma!!
Happy Australia Day - lovely beach shot...
Piers should rise to the skies if they want to, don't you think? Why should they remain beach-bound? :)
It looks like it was a beautiful day for a celebration! The sun is shining warm and casting shadows that are probably being missed by the surf boat riders but not the photographer of shadows. :
What a great picture...love how the pier is going up & up! Looks like a fun day on the beach :)
So glad you didn't discard it! Sort of like saved by the bell, huh? Oh, that beach looks so inviting!
I like it too. Love the beach... a few more months! :)
I'll enjoy your sunny shadow shot as it's pretty cold here! Cheers!
Beautiful composition with beautiful shadows, I like the colors and of course the delicious light.
Isn't it interesting how our opinion of something changes when we take a "second" look. Great shot--glad you didn't discard it. Mickie ;)
I miss walking in a sandy beach. Gorgeous!
Beautiful shot of the beach.
Beautiful photo!! The clouds, the water, the brightly colored tent, and the shadow of the little trailer in the sand. The shadow looks like an "H" in the sand.
What a great shot, love the colour, the sea and the sand. And the yachts in the background gorgeous..there is so much going on when you look closely.
Nice picture, lovely Haiku - and I love your quote about shadows! Wonderful. :-)
Beautifully composed shot!
Your shadow scenes and words fit so well.
aaaah, I'd love to walk on that sand...spring, come, come...
Have a great week ahead!
A sunny day is a beautiful day and walking barefoot on the beach is very nice. Greetings.
All the old rules about straight horizons seem to have been thrown out the window now anyway, Gemma. What matters in a shadow-shot is its shadow quality, anyway. Good work!

Very nice shadows.
Regards and best wishes
It's cold, frosty and icy here, so your sun and sand is a wonderful antidote!!
Love the photo. Great shot.
