AUSTRALIA ~ The Antipodes
I love a sunburnt country / A land of sweeping plains / Of ragged mountain ranges / Of droughts and flooding rains / I love her far horizons / I love her jewel-sea / Her beauty and her terror / The wide brown land for me / ~ Dorothea Mackellar (1885-1968)

A Blistered Season

Friday Flash 55
~

Icy waves reached for the melancholic tread of her blistered, naked feet.
Her blood-shot eyes focused on the slithering golden glisten of light knifing the horizon of the bay.
Her numbed mind tuned to a silvered manic cycle of “What if’s”.
Her soul was locked in black regret.
Winning now is not winning for always.

Nice one. I can feel that there is a story hiding beneath the words here. Sounds like it didn't have a happy ending.

Beautiful image and words.

I've been reading Bill Bryson's In a Sunburned Country this week. The Mornington Peninsula one of the places he talked about.

open ID isn't working but mine is here:
