The House of the Rising Sun has been recorded by Nina Simone, Bob Dylan, The Animals and Joan Baez PLUS The Doors of course (for Paisley)- to name a few.
Pic by Zabelle, Portland, Connecticut - Originally Charles Washington's house in Fredericksburg, Virginia. He lived here for 20 years before moving to Charlestown. Now it is Rising Sun Tavern.
The Rising - album by Bruce Springsteen. Half the songs were written by Bruce Springsteen in response to September 11, 2001. Paradise, You're Missing, Empty Sky, The Fuse, Into the Fire, Worlds Apart and the title song The Rising were written post 9/11.
The Rising Sun is the longest yacht in the world - 452 feet. 82 rooms on five stories with a total living area >8,000 square meters.
On Christopher: Artist Blog Press release, April 3, 2007 - Canadian solo artist Christopher recorded a 27 minute re-interpretation of Jimmy Page’s notorious `Lucifer Rising’ soundtrack...Page’s 23 minute soundtrack was scrapped from the same-titled Kenneth Anger occult-themed film and has never been officially released.“The film and music is shrouded in mystery, mishaps, a curse; and excess. They were ripe for re-interpretation and the invocative nature of the music and film resonated with me.”
“The soundtrack Page created was ahead of its time. The unsettling tibetan chants and the even tempered tambura that carries the whole soundtrack were used in a way that would be only looked into several years later by other composers. It’s a shame that the ideas Page employed were not committed to the final edit of the film. It truly does live up to its name.”The re-recording is a tribute to a great piece of truly `underground’ and `unsettling’ music. (The Page soundtrack is usually found on various Led Zeppelin Bootlegs and recently was a feature in UK’s Classic Rock Magazine)
Rising from the pumpkin patch This one, sent to us by David Fowler of uC Hobby, uses printer mechanics, a BASIC Stamp, and a Park Zone light (an ultrasonic proximity detector used for tight-space garage parking). It senses when someone is close to the front door and triggers a pumpkin to rise from the planter box on the porch.
From Elmwood Magic comes Rising Coin Castle. You ask a spectator to sign a coin, and put this coin in the drawer at the bottom of the Tower. The coin now visibly RISES in the Tower's window! Suddenly the coin vanishes and at the same moment a click is heard. You have the spectator open the locked box at the top of the tower. Inside the small Locked Box is their coin!
And YES - the Tower's drawer is now EMPTY!
