Peeking

Two kookaburras in late afternoon winter sunlight

We have been waiting
I wonder if she'll feed us
It's getting so late

Those are the cutest, most adorable birds I've EVER seen. How can I be my advanced age and never have seen a picture of a kookaburra? So adorable that they come to you to be fed.......and even let you take their photo without startling.

I once came within - no kidding - two feet of a gigantic eagle. He was perched on a railing on an overlook platform in Clayoquot Sound. AND I had my eye looking through my camera, and took a picture, BUT I TOOK IT IN THE WRONG DIRECTION. I was so fascinated by the refracted light in the sky, that got my last shot. Then the eagle flapped up and away and I cussed myself for missing the shot of a lifetime. Always so close, but no cigar! hee hee.

These two almost appear to be smiling - knowing full well that the photo artist captured their great look and excellent shadows!

Well, did you feed these adorable little beggars?

oh, how this makes me smile....first the picture, then the haiku (it is exactly what their expression is saying) then me singing "kookaburra sits in the old gum tree....." and takes me back to childhood!! Thanks for the smiles Gemma!!

Are these young birds? They almost look tame - especially if your haiku is describing them!
